Friday’s always seem to be a slow day in the domaining world for most bloggers and this includes me. It’s not that I don’t want to write about anything, sometimes it is simply hard to come up with interesting and good stuff to write about. (feel free to submit any tips or things you wish to learn more about any time via the contact page) So I was just browsing over some site stats just now on DotWeekly and I noticed a spike in an article that I wrote about the domain name 027.com selling for $100,000 last week.

In that article I had also covered several other 2, 3 and 4 number domain name sales that T.J. Demas purchased in 2008. This also happened to cover 11.com which was purchased for $188,888.88.

Since I was looking into the reason for the spike in traffic to the 027.com article I wrote last week today, I noticed in my referring sites stats that I was getting a fair amount of traffic from 11.com . In the stats, it allows me to click the URL to visit the referring page directly, which will normally be an article about my article and the reason for the spike in traffic due to a link back.

11.com

Well, to my surprise after clicking the link to 11.com and visiting the tab in my browser… I was on DotWeekly.com and the 027.com article??? Not thinking I was seeing things clearly or correctly, I used direct navigation to 11.com . Back to DotWeekly.com again.

No story directly on 11.com about the article on DotWeekly.com, 11.com’s traffic is simply forwarding to DotWeekly.com and the 027.com story. I did cover some of the domains of T.J. and a little "freaky" thing that happened when I posted a screen shot in the 027 article of 444.com, so I am not sure if that is why T.J. is forwarding 11.com to the article or not.

11.com Forwarding to DotWeekly.com

You will also notice in the Referrer stats image above (1), several Sub-Domain referrers from 11.com as well: 5.11.com, fmw.11.com, kare.11.com, aaa.11.com and bbb.11.com . I have no clue why these sub-domains are even in place or why somebody would visit those specific sub-domains and redirect to the article.

The only sub-domain indexed at Google for 11.com is a double sub domain with www.sexy.11.com . A catch all is likely being used for the redirect, but the interesting thing is people are visiting those random sub-domains as well.

T.J’s company site is at E8.com and is very similar to several of his sites I have visited like 444.com, 7777.com etc.

Thank you for the traffic T.J. and for the feeling of owning a $188,888.88 domain name.. well the traffic for now at least.

    So has anyone found out exactly what he is doing with his sites? Seemed like there was lot of talk about something big going a while ago, did we find out what it is?

    @Troy,
    I have not heard much of anything. I did play around on the 17th trying to figure the rhyme or reason behind the symmetrical purchases, the links, image, location etc but didn’t come up with a lot.

    @Peer,
    I’m glad I took the screen shot then. I have also seen some of T.J’s domains switch forwards (based on images on his sites), so maybe it will come back. Thanks for the heads up and glad you enjoy reading.

    Well, I once missed the IP address of my DNS server by one diget and I was pretty surprised to see some surfing website on my own domain! So, when you do a request to a domain and the IP address is “misspelled” and the server can’t find the name for the IP it will try to deliver the first domain it sees in the database.

  6. 11.com takes me to google.com !!!

    @DnClips,
    Yes, it appears the forward is moving around now. In total yesterday, some 310+ visitors came from the forward of 11.com to DotWeekly.
