Back in September I was in the auction for DebtManagement.org at SnapNames.com . I LOVED the domain and it had HUGE potential for both a reseller like myself or an end-user. The term carries a high PPC and I really wanted it. For domains like this, the .org extension is very fitting and ranks well in all major SE’s.
The one interesting thing to me during the auction, was there were only 6 people that back ordered the domain! So at that point, I figured I had a much better chance at winning the domain!
Well, the auction went on for it’s 3 days and it came down to 3 of us near the end. Then It was just me and "proaction" fighting it out at the very end. Their were a total of 9 bids between the both of us at the end, and at the time, my funds for buying was running low, so user ID "proaction" had the last bid at $2,470 USD. and beat me out. Today, it would of been a different story.
I was pretty upset after losing the auction, and today while reading the reported domain sales at DNJournal.com gave me another steam bath and reason why I was upset not winning it.
At DOMAINfest Global, the domain DebtManagement.org sold for a strong 5 figures and closed at $11,000 USD.
Now doing the math, "proaction" purchased the domain on Septemeber 12, 2007 for $2,470 and sold approx. January 23, 2008 (4 months) for $11,000 USD, for a profit of $8,530. Oversee.net grabbed a 15% sellers fee for selling it, which comes out to $1,324.50. So in 4 months, a cool profit of $7,205.50
This shows a couple things… One, you can still buy in the aftermarket and resell not much later and still turn a Great Profit! Secondly, it shows that most investors are missing the Value on strong keyword .org’s.
My congrats go out to Jason H. on beating me out in the snap auction and to the new owner Alexander L. on the purchase!
