Domain Tools Auction wrap up. 8 Domains Sold

The auction was very weak for "during auction bids". With no really advertising for the auction, I am not so sure how many people even knew of the auction. 0 domains bid on IN the auction. Only 8 domains sold via Pre-Bids. Total amount of sales $29,948.

For the first two domains that sold, they had pre-bids on them and no other bidding during the auciton. Lot # 4 was Adverting.info which sold for $499. Lot # 53 was SecuritySurveillanceSystems.com which sold for $900 and again no extra bidding during the live auction.

The next auction to get a bid was Lot # 74 NationalidCard.com for $3,800 usd which was also a Pre-Bid domain and no bidding in the live event.

At this point there were several software glitches. Some auctions ran for as little as 8 seconds. Then one for 60 seconds. Then back to the normal 30 seconds. I was thinking of taking a nap at this point due to the lack of action in the auction and I think it would of been a great time to do so…

It wasn’t until Lot # 114 before there was any more action. Jewel.mobi had 1 Pre-Bid for $900 and again, no extra bids during the live event.

If you lost count, it’s 4 domains sold so far, out of approx 100 lots. There were several domains still in the list that sold from their last auction, so that is why the numbers do not match up exactly. Bad, Bad, Bad!

Time for nap # 2….. Did you ever go play Bingo before? Kind of the same feeling watching this auction…. Very Boring and nobody is yelling Bingo, that’s for sure! Nearly 50 Lots passed with NO ACTION and Up comes lot # 153, which again had a Pre-Bid on it. Automotive-Parts.com for $900 and no extra bidding again. This was the first and only Hyphenated domain to sell as well in the auction.

Lot #155 was a great domain, CellularService.com with a starting bid of $9,000 but passed with No Bids.

Lot #164 Test.net  was again a Pre-Bid domain and had a bid at $22,500. The high bidder’s name was "darkblueau" which seemed interesting to me and maybe was the only bidder for the auction, since they also won most of the other auctions. Also, once again, no more bidding was done in the auction and Test.net closed at $22,500 usd.

Starting at lot #175 were domains with $250 or Less reserves. Since 0 domains were bid on so far in the auction, I was hoping to see some bidding action. WorkRat.com was the first at $100 and Passed, so it was not looking good..

Lot # 198 CraftersStore.com was the next domain to see any action, but once again had a Pre-Bid for $99 and another Pre-Bid upto $199 and No extra bidding during the live event, so it ended for $199.

The last lot was # 209 with ObedienceTraining.org and once again had a Pre-Bid of $250 and one extra pre-bid to bring it up to $350, which was what it ended for.

Simply amazing to me NO BIDS WERE PLACED IN AUCTION! Only 8 domains sold via Pre-Bids.

The problems I had seen and why I felt this auction did SO BAD, was Jay (owner of DomainTools.com) simply picked Bad Domains. The auction was on a Friday. Little to No Advertising. Announced the auction only a couple weeks before it took place.

The domain name owner has to make sure if he or she wants to recieve the best $$$$ for the domain name which it wants to sell to list it for sale at a place where there is MAXIMUM exposure and not at a website like domaintools.com

If you are after a bargain domain name buy them at places where there is minimal exposure.

If a domain name owner has a domain for sale the BEST thing to do is to set up a website to let the visitor know that domain name is for sale - with contact details (ONLY email address is fine) on the website and the Minimum $$$$ that the domain name seller is willing to accept.
