Here is my weekly write up of off the wall domain name stats! As always, these stats are for One Day and are from yesterday 3-19-2008. Today I will spend a little more focus on Registrars, instead of a wide range that I normally cover.
eNom.com started tasting *grabs calculator* 57,279 domain names. They dropped approx 35,666 as well after tasting them for approx 96 hours! If that were you or I and had to pay the normal enom fee of $7.95, that would come out to $455,368.05 in registration fees for the 57,279 new domains!
eNom currently controls 8,539,599 domain names and has had a positive gain of 87,709 domain names over the past 30 days. eNom is also the 2nd highest domain registrar for total domains controlled.
Godaddy.com had another busy day, getting 51,967 "new" domain names. (New =’s New registration or transfered to.) Godaddy’s new total amount of domains they control climbed to 24,131,605 + the 2,969,271 registered threw their sister company Wild West Domains, for a grand total of 27,100,876 domain names.
Of that grand total, 686,622 have been gained over the past 30 days for Godaddy and WWD combined.
There are currently 974 ICANN accredited registrars.
I did a search on Google.com and for my region (search results are different per region) for the search term Domain Registrar and not including Paid Results~ Godaddy.com ranked #1, NetworkSolutions.com ranked #2 & #3. NameCheap.com ranked #6, with Register.com ranked #7 and last registrar listed was Active-Domain.com at #8.
