I am always thinking of the Perfect way to list domains that I own, For Sale. I do admit that I list them currently about every place that I can. This includes sites like Afternic.com, Sedo.com, My eBay store, Yofie.com my personal domain site, parking companies with contact links and so on. The ones the produce my best offers and sales are from parking companies! So today I was thinking…… these people are the ones who "get it" a little bit more then others! What if more people "Got it" how to buy domain names a little better?
I have some decent domains and I always thought, the better domains I have, the more people "will" contact me with interest in buying my domain names. Well, that is not the case, atleast for me. Since Sedo has SO many domains listed on their site, your domains become the needle in the haystack. Sedo claims to have 9 million domains in their platform so the end user sure does have tons of choices, that is if they even know about Sedo!
If Sedo advertised on TV and Magazines like BuyDomains.com does, I think us as domainers would get more offers on our domains and see the higher prices like BuyDomains gets.
The buyers we want to come around and make offers on our domains that we have listed, just do not happen as often as they should. Why? People still have the "all the good ones are taken" mindset.
Domain owners need a listing service to get the message out to the general public that, Just because all the good ones are taken, doesn’t mean they do not have the option to purchase them and this is HOW!
If I had the money, I would do it! I would focus on specific makets, like Godaddy does, but more business related and instead of trying to sell registrations and hosting. Use the commercials to get the value of domains into the minds of the general public. Help the public understand that domain names are ASSETS and perform better then their stocks they are buying! Push the facts, educate the buyers on advertising and why having the generic domain is Way Better over the long run!
So picture a "Buy Domains" but for ALL domainers and not just one company!
