I just spoke with my Executive Accounts Manager with Godaddy.com and before I hang up, I always ask…. Anything new going on with Godaddy?
It never fails as something always seems to be new. So today, Jay explained to me a little new feature and how it works.
On Godaddy’s Aftermarket (Tdnam.com) they are now offering a new Buy It Now feature on select Expired Domain Names. The feature is called just that, Expired Buy Now Option and by the domains, you will see a split button. Half Orang/Half Green. Then inside the auction page for the specific domain name you click on, you will see a yellow box that details
"The Buy Now option is available for selected expired name auctions but is removed after the first bid is received."
It is very important to note: The Buy It Now price is NOT the advertised Listed price. So if you see a domain you are interested in, check out the Real Buy It Now price not the Min Bid Price on the listing page of the domain.
How do you get to these? After you go to Tdnam, just click on the Expiring Tab.
In several ways I do like this feature. Once any domain name at an auction service get’s a bid on it, the domain screams at others looking… Hello, LOOK at ME…
With this buy it now feature, that can take that risk away. Now the buy it now is going to cost you a little bit more then the normal starting price of normal expired domains, but in the end, it could also be saving you money!
Most Expired Buy It Now features are on domain names that Tdnam is showing some traffic data and my rep said the starting prices are guaged upon the traffic and (this is a DotWeekly.com exclusive, so Shhhhhh) many times based on Revenue value, the domain is making while expired and on a godaddy parked page.
Now with that exciting exclusive news, don’t be telling everybody.
I always wonder why some Expired domains listed on Tdnam were starting higher then others and my rep let it squeek. Now is it 100%? I don’t know, because I have not purchase any of the domain names that were expired and started at a higher price then $10 that I was aware of.
It is always wise to verify traffic stats the best you can with tools available. Domains that get traffic will have stats for all if not most of these. Now keep in mind, if the domain was a developed site and NOT on godaddy hosting, Godaddy will not have a traffic "Number" like some domains have. So if you see a Higher Priced Expired domain, that doesn’t show traffic… That is your sign. Use the tools below to help guage if the domain is getting traffic and probally making some parking money and that is the reason behind the "Higher" starting price.
Backlinks. Use MarketLeap.com as they have always be the most accurate for me.
Alexa Rank. Alexa.com (Traffic Ranking) The lower the number the better. Use caution and make sure the domain that displays is the Exact one you typed in. Many alexa rankings show a Forwarded Domain.
Compete.com This is a newer tool, but very accurate if it has data.
Go to google and type site:domainname.com (put in the domain you would like where it says domainname.com) and hit Search. This will show you how many, if any indexed pages are on google. This also works with Yahoo! It should have atleast one indexed page or it’s likely the domain was used with arbitrage.
