Sedo.com keeps ringing up 5 figure sales

I did not see these reported in DnJournal.com’s list of reported sales.

Sedo.com keeps the ball rolling and the sales happening! CreditScoreTracker.com is a nice domain with great potential and sold for $6K. The next sale is a Huge Risk, since iPhone is TM. Spending $10,050 on iPhoneGames.com was not a wise decision IMO and this one could come back to bite them. Nice domain… but Apple can easily take the domain over. Moksha.com at $20,000 is another nice sale but I have no clue what it means… It seems to have something to do with Yoga, but for $20K? Very little traffic, was first registered in 1995 with all extensions taken and low returns on Google. TexasGolf.com is a nice niche geo domain. Not sure how popular golf is in Texas, but it must be pretty big! I wonder what MyrtleBeachGolf.com would go for? I have seen and played the courses their and they are Great! The site is nicely developed and the owner is unknown due to whois privacy.

I keep seeing these nice sales on Sedo, but keep waiting for my offers to come in week after week ;)

I find myself thinking the same thing although I’m content to hold until the overall economy rebounds in a couple of years.

A lot of these names I see sold on Sedo or Afternic for $2000 or more IMO are about as good or worse than what I can get off the drop for $59-69. I’m sure the ones you get for reg fees you feel the same way about.

I guess it’s a numbers game before these end users eventually go after “our” names.

Moksha is basically (but not exactly) Nirvana. So I guess $20k is a small price to pay for a release from all suffering. ;-)

“I did not see these reported in DnJournal.com’s list of reported sales.”

It might had been wiser to add “yet” to your statement.

There could be a couple reasons why you haven’t seen it posted on DNJ’s weekly sales report.

1. The buyer or seller may have requested that the sale data not be made public. Eventhough, it might have already appeared on Sedo’s front page.
Case in point - CreditScoreTracker is now owned by the large credit reporting company - Experian.

2. Maybe, the deal hasn’t officially changed ownership.

3. Maybe, the purchase was completed but was fraudulent.

4. Maybe, the selling service will report the sale in the very near future.

At least you know when it is posted on DNJ that the sale was completed.

Whereas, the data in some of the “sales reporting” sites may not be accurate because it was scraped from the selling site without any confirmation of completion.

How many of the Sedo, Afternic, Namejet, sales fall through because of lack of payment or the buyer disappears?

The old timers can tell you. Before DNJ’s weekly sales report, a buyer or seller could post any price on the forums quoting a completed sale price.
Or, there could be a lot of rumors about a domain sale but no factual data.

Ron brought creditability to domain sales reporting.

I agree DNJ does a great job, but I wouldn’t report the sales unless Sedo did. For one, Sedo should very well know if the domain sold or not. I expect to see these domains on DnJournal.com tonight 8-26-2008.
