Picking a niche within a niche often pays off in the domain name industry. Domainers LOVE data and there is a lot of it available in the domain name industry that is often available to grab or easy to have somebody write some simple script to grab data. When NameBio.com started, that is what they did. The sales data was available and being produced but no site allowed people to "search" the data in one place. Justin provided this and the site did and still does very well with hungry domainers going to see the data daily.
A niche within a niche? Domain names are the niche but then you have specific domain names like LLL’s or LLLL’s. Both are a niche within a niche and both have sites dedicated to them.
3 Letter and 3 character domain names have the niche site at, well none other than 3Character.com (which happens to be down right now). This site tracks the average sales price of 3 letter domain names in major TLD’s as well as 3 character domain names. The site has archives of past months and years of what the minimum wholesale values of these domains were. The site is clearly for reference purposes because no two 3 letter domain names are the same, but the guide is nice.
4 Letter domain names are loved by many in the domain industry and branding with LLLL’s is pretty common for businesses as well as acronym uses. Recce Berg covered LLLL domains with his blog on LLLL.com but that didn’t last all that long. Today, I was looking around and discovered a new LLLL focused site and it’s pretty sharp, as well as Free to use!
The site grabs a good deal of reported 4 letter domain name sales daily and publishes them on the site from sources like GoDaddy Auctions, Sedo, NameJet, eBay and user submitted sales.
On the far left side of the site, you will find a massive amount of different search metrics to show the LLLL’s you want to see! These metrics include all of the popular terms like CVCV, VCVC, quad premium, TLD, price range etc.
On the far right side of the site is a small section of current LLLL’s on auction from several of the sources mentioned above.
I took the time to verify several of the sales to make sure the data is correct and it would appear that everything is. As with any domain deals, some fall though but the vast majority shown that I checked were reported sold and at the prices stated on LLLLSales.com . Total sales tracked to date on the site includes over $55.6 Million in sales, so the database is pretty large.
Today was the first time that I ran into or heard of LLLLSales.com, but it is one that I will go back to as needed because it is a nice niche focused site with accurate data on the LLLL market. If you have never heard of the site, now you have. When you get a chance or are in need of some LLLL data, check it out.

Thanks for the site and the summary. Simplicity is the key when projecting large amounts a data on one site and this site keeps it simple. There are only three tabs for information. The one tab that ads value is the Price Charts tab. If the data is correct and sometimes this is an issue, you can immediately see how the price for LLLL.com’s have changed since ’07.
Thanks,
Rafael
