It’s the Holidays. The economy sucks and it pays to be SMART! Here is a little trick I thought would be nice to offer DotWeekly.com readers. Enjoy…
Log in at Godaddy.com and click Auctions, then the tab Expiring.
Now all the domain names shown are Expired Domains… this is important.
You have a couple options from here. You can either click the Price or Traffic to Ascend to bring the Highest First.
Once you have either the domains listed with the highest Price or the Highest Traffic, keep in mind that these domain names are "Priced" higher with most having NO BIDS.. these are the ones you are looking for. Godaddy is pricing these higher for a reason. Many have traffic and they simply feel that the domains are worth a much higher starting bid price. Some of them may have lower traffic but just a higher starting price. Why? Because it’s making money Parked for them!
The problem for them (Godaddy).. a lot of these domains do not get bids due to the higher starting bid prices. Godaddy has stated several times they do not warehouse domain names, so this means only one thing! These domain names that do not get any bids will follow the "normal" drop process and go Pending Delete.
So, build a list with the domain(s) and info provided from Godaddy that have no bids. The info will be helpful down the road when the domain hits pending delete as you can pick up many of these domains for Reg Fee or even the minimum backorder price at NameJet or SnapNames.com etc.
Use a status checking system with your list of domain names for when the domain hits Pending Delete like JustDropped.com and click Keywords. I’m sure there are several services like this.
For an example, Godaddy has DiscountFurnitureOutletOnline.com . Who is going to place a $1,300 starting bid or use the $6,500 Buy It Now? Nobody that I know! The 1,436 traffic Godaddy is reporting will get some Furniture clicks parked and if you can pick this domain up for $8 or even $60 it should make your money back in no time!
Godaddy had Hundreds of domain names like this listed and many end daily with No Bids. Not all have high traffic stats but most range from the $x,xxx range to the $xxx starting range for the opening bid with even much higher Buy It Now’s!
It’s very important to keep in mind….. Godaddy is pricing these Expired Domain Names with a Higher Starting price for a reason. Do not always go by the "traffic" number they display as the starting price makes a difference many times as well.
Keep me in mind when you are crazy rich and we can toast a beer or twenty! Keep thinking outside the box!

And that’s better than anything you’ll ever read in a domaining ebook you have to PAY for.
Nice tip Jamie — wish you would have kept it a secret so us pros could have more of the slim pickings to ourselves

Thanks Reece! The problem with the people in this world is the lack of Action! They can be handed a golden opportunity but unless they act, it doesn’t matter.
Tony
This is certainly great advice as usual, Jamie.
I would like to offer up one caveat about chasing domains with residual traffic that is not organic. They do not convert well on PPC.
One example I have is RareTix.com. I got it because it’s a great name for a ticket selling site but I found out it gets about 2,000 visitors a month which was an unexpected bonus. However, the click conversion is almost nil because the visitors are expecting the website that was previously there. Anyway, my point is don’t get names that just have traffic like cohenchords.com because it gets 10,000 hits/mo. You might not get any parking income from it.

@ Tony — Develop them or outsource the work to someone else!

wow great trick, you just taught me something new. thank you jamie.
Jason
I remember your previous post (long time ago now) about interpreting the GoDaddy auction listings, but never made the logical leap to this — brilliant! Agree about the lack of action. Laziness is your friend! As long as it’s not you who’s being lazy…
Jamie Parks
It’s all about taking action. The aftermarket deals to be had on TDnam are ridiculously sweet this time of year. Lets see if your strategy helps stimulate more activity over there. @Tony – If you’re really getting 10k impressions a month and you’re still relying on parking you’re letting a game winning touchdown slip through your fingers at the 1 yardline… E-mail me, I’d love to convert that traffic for you

Absolutely one of the best advices I’ve seen for a while! Thanks Jamie always a pleasure to read your posts.
Jurom
wow, very good tips.
I could had never thought of that myself!

Thanks for sharing Jamie. My tuition check for you is in the mail!

discountfurnitureoutletonline.com has an expiration date of 31-oct-2009. If Godaddy cant sell it for the price they want, and are making $$$ parking it, then why would they drop it?
**Jamie Says**
The expiration date is due to the auto renew period. Registrars can undo that and not have to pay for renewal. Why would they drop the domain? It’s the right thing to do! They have said they do not warehouse domains…
beastmoon
what a great trick, I have parked several domains but all of them have low traffic, this give me new idea, thanks
JK
“Godaddy has stated several times they do not warehouse domain names”
This is not true. Make a list of all of those names that you think will drop and get deleted. I guarantee you that 90% of those names or higher will be mysteriously owned by a company called ‘Standard Tactics’. Just like Simon said, if its making them money why would they let it drop. The answer to that question is……… They dont.
**Jamie Says**
Are you sure “Standard Tactics” is not using my trick….. Maybe I’m “Standard Tactics”
andrew
Jamie, sorry to tell you this but JK is right. Your trick won’t work. I’ve been working on this story for a while and now it’s posted:

**Jamie Says**
Thanks for doing the Great Story Andrew! I wanted people to see it for them self using my “trick”. I have watched these domains for a long time as well and noticed most didn’t drop. Note the line in my post “Godaddy has stated several times they do not warehouse domain names, so this means only one thing!” . I wanted people armed with data and specific domain names but your post provides Plenty Proof.
milly
I didnt understand what should I do when the domains are in pending. when it’s happened and in what way I can buy it in minimum price before anyone else? what did u mean by this?:”domain names, so this means only one thing! These domain names that do not get any bids will follow the “normal” drop process and go Pending Delete.
So, build a list with the domain(s) and info provided from Godaddy that have no bids. The info will be helpful down the road when the domain hits pending delete as you can pick up many of these domains for Reg Fee…”?
thanks
**Jamie Says**
Sorry Milly, I was setting up Godaddy aka “Standard Tactics”. Please see the post by Andrew. The fact is, Godaddy is keeping nearly all the domain names (warehousing) it “should” be dropping.
Jamie
Well, the cat is out of the bag… My trick is the fact that Godaddy DOES warehouse domain names and my “trick” would of proved it to you.

Andrew from DomainNameWire.com has writen a stunning and fact filled post about “Standard Tactics” who becomes the owner of most of these domains in the “trick”. http://domainnamewire.com/2008/12/03/standard-tactics-llc-how-godaddy-profits-from-expired-domains/#comment-291815
Bad Bad Daddy
Go Daddy has been warehousing domains via their company Standard Tactics since 2005.
If a high bid item does not receive any offers it goes to Standard Tactics because Go Daddy ran a script that placed a backorder on the domain. If there is no action at TDNAM the domain always goes to the backorder holder.
OR . . . if the high bidder cannot make payment, it goes to the backorder holder.
