People whine about paying for access, they whine about seeing ads. This attitude has gone overboard and needs to stop. Personally, if you are offering relevant information or services that are beneficial to me and my business, then I don't mind seeing relevant ads related to the subject I am interested in. And I will even (Oh My God!)click on that ad that interests me. I may have passion for a subject but, other than charity, if I can't conceive a clear path to get paid for my time and efforts then I can't fuck with it. Like you alluded to in your post, a man has to put food on the table. It's nice to stay mainly relevant to what I write about and domain affiliates either pay very poorly or just offer poor affiliate programs. I do use some affiliate programs though. If you are self-employed, your time has to be focused on those areas of your business where you are compensated for your efforts. However, one has to experiment to see what works and what doesn't.
