Back in September of 2009 I had wrote about not only the domain name NeWisconsinBPG.com being "ugly" but the advertising company behind the TV ad had let the domain expire but was still running the domain name in TV ads.
Last night I just happened to see this same TV ad run again (I have seen it run a lot, just never checking out the domain again) and I decided to checkout the domain to see if the advertising company got it back as they told me they were going to. Well, since it has been about 3 months since I last wrote about it, this advertising company must of got the domain back or why else would they be still using the domain name in the ad, right?
NOPE!
They still do not own the domain name as it sits on a parking page but they keep running the ad on TV with a domain name they no longer even own! WOW!!!
Really, the domain name expired August 5, 2009 and the ad company is Martin Advertising according to Whois records. So this ad has been running on local TV displaying a domain name they no longer own going on 5 months.
One would think they (auto dealerships) would "try" to look at the stats of the domain and see how the ad is doing? Since the ad campaign is being run for a group of automotive dealerships, you would think one of the group would be like… "Man, we do not get any interest off our website advertisement" Hmm, I wonder what’s going on.. etc.
If you were to read the first story I wrote about it, I even contacted the advertising company and let them know the domain expired! Martin Advertising said they would "work to fix this issue".
It is simply amazing to me that these companies would pay for this advertising and continue to run an ad with a domain name they no longer even own, day after day, month after month!
This is a true advertising fail!

TriCounty
I have a charter fishing domain that for over four years now a guy has been running an PPC ad on Yahoo for. He owns the singular, I own the plural. He is advertising the plural.
Some days it make $10.
How he could be missing this is unreal to me.

That is interesting TriCounty and I would bet that happens from time to time. I could see somebody that may own a .net, make a typo in the ad and include the domain as a .com . Like you said, plural and singular as well but you would think after 4 years… they would notice the mistake. LOL
