If you happen to read Day Old News like I do from time to time (the newspaper) it simply amazes me that many of these companies that advertise in the paper or any print really, often do not include the companies domain name / website in their ad.

Why spend big bucks to get noticed and leave no instant place for your potential customers to go?

I read on FragerFactor.com the best reason that I have heard WHY you should include your domain name in your advertising. "Including your domain name in ads allows you to Continue Your Message!"

I mean really, you can only say so much in an ad. You can only be "so catchy". Then when you do grab somebodies attention, then what? No Domain Name placed in the ad, Just Doesn’t Make Sense!

I hope these companies are not included in any Bailout and if they are, I hope they read DotWeekly! Put your domain in your ad! Do not let people "assume" or guess if you happen to have a website where they can find your products or service you offer. People are lazy and stupid. If it’s not right in front of them, you are fighting a losing battle!

Some companies can simply just be Lazy and use other creative ways to waste advertising dollars. Take eBay for an example. They advertise all over the place which is a good thing. They will nearly always include eBay.com in each ad, which again is a good thing. But then, they get lazy: They use just about ANY keyword phrase used online and advertise with Google Adwords with it. When the keyword phrase used to advertise Does Not match something they do or offer, it just makes them look dumb, wastes money and is confusing.

Now we know that eBay doesn’t offer Expiring Domains, so why advertise for it? It’s false advertising really! I should sue!! :)

Unless I’m totally missing something, the simple answer is DO things that Make Sense! Would your local city put up a metal sign and not include any words on it? Now that wouldn’t make sense right?

For the companies that DO include there domain names in their ads, Congrats!
