The domain name sales service Afternic.com rolled out a massive face lift to it’s website look and function. There are so many new things that I would bore you to death about writing about them all, so go to Afternic.com and check it out.

Here are a couple things that I do want to point out after using the site for about 10 minutes.

~ Premium Listing Level, This is a "new" level of promotion and if you use/used Expanded Promotion before.. you might as well Upgrade to the Premium as it’s the same 20% commission. The Premium level allows your domain name to be visible on searches at major registrars that Afternic is partnered with as well as Network Solutions.

Again, if you were using Expanded Promotion, I see no reason why you wouldn’t upgrade! Premium Level is only for .com, .net, .org and .biz.

~ Edit function is Better… I take that back… it just might be Worse!! The edit part is better but I can only seem to get 25 domains to display at a time in "My Afternic"… so you can only edit 25 domains at a time (Pain in the ass). If you are doing a bulk edit, you can only edit the domains as a "group" and not for a specific domain. Editing in bulk, if you change one category, price, promotion level etc, you are changing it for the all domains you have selected and to the one change you select will happen to all domains selected.

~ Remember all those emails you got about domains listed in your account that you no longer "owned" and would be removed… they were not, at least for me. Any domain that I had sold in the past and had listed with Afternic is still in my account and just listed as "Sold"… but you CAN now go and delete them! Why Afternic did not remove all these, I’m not sure. Domains you no longer own that you could not "Delete" before are listed as Not For Sale. Again, you can now delete those to help clean up your account.

~ You can now Create A Group. This can allow you to group your domains by registrar or "type" aka Real Estate, 3 letter or whatever if you wish.

For the most part, the changes are "The Look" but there are several function changes. I am really not a fan of the 25 Domains per page and I can not find any option to change this, which also only allows you to edit 25 domains at a time.

I am still having an issue that I had with the old system.. Some domains I update and the changes do not take effect. Any domain in my account that is All CAPS, I have tried to adjust and make it KeywordKeyword but for whatever reason does not "fix". I also can not change "Levels" on some domains off basic. Why I can’t change HeatingKit.com off basic, when I set all prices requested and click Save…. no clue.. the system acts like it works but doesn’t change anything.

Reminder… If you used Expanded Promotion, I suggest you go into your account at Afternic.com and upgrade to the Premium Promotion as it’s the same 20% commission but your domains will likely be seen by a lot more eyes via partner registrars.

Am I overlooking something or did Afternic remove the number of views for each domain metric in the portfolio dashboard?

    @ Brad,
I noticed that was gone as well. It would be nice to see how many people are visiting your listing page…. and if they “tried” to make an offer or whatever. The more data provided to sellers, the more I see it helping etc.
