I have not reported that many Afternic.com domain name sales lately, so here are a couple that stick out to me that have sold this week.

Afternic reported the sale of Zeal.com for $50,000. Zeal holds the dictionary meaning of "Passionate devotion to or interest in a cause or subject".

One interesting thing about the purchase.. the company that sold it was named Zeal Media Group LLC. It appears that company either folded in or around 2006 or lost interest in the site. Normally we see an exact match company buy the domain, not sell it, but is understandable if the company went out of business. If this was the case, the domain appears to have been a nice asset.

A message from the new domain owner states on the site currently:

I know that many of you Zealots like myself were very saddened by the loss of Zeal in March 2006.

For those of you who don’t know me, I was a former volunteer editor at Zeal before it shut down.

As the new owner of this domain, I hope to rejuvenate Zeal and bring it back to its glory days. I’ve been a software engineer for over 10 years and hopefully, I can use my programming skills to develop a web directory worthy of the name Zeal.

Here are some other notable domain sales from this week at Afternic.com.

SmartBride.com $5,750

PlacesToGo.com $8,995

DreamKeepers.org $2,000

LegalFinancing.com $3,500

MultiHost.com $2,400

LocalWater.org $1,080

Livy.com $1,199

TestEquipment.org $1,000

YouAndI.com $5,400

Santarosaca.com $3,000

InsureYourWorld.com $1,500

WeightChart.net $2,250

Also to note, Afternic had several sales of two word .org sales in the mid $xxx range which is nice to see as I am an investor in .org as well.

That’s awesome news. I snapped up Zealotry.com a while back in part because I love the connotation. I hope he does well with it.

Jamie, love to see your post on if Afternic sold their own domains OR ones from members. Knowing this info is it still a good choice to list my or OUR domains with them knowing from the past that most of the sales are their own?

What is your gut feeling on this please!

Thanx for all your digging that you do.

    @Ricky,
It takes a great deal of time to look up who owned the domain last for a large list of domains, so I really have not checked lately on if Afternic owns the majority of the domains being reported sold. As stated in this post, Zeal.com was not owned by Afternic. I checked a couple just now via whois.. SmartBride.com was owned by Register.com. PlacesToGo.com was owned by a member. DreamKeepers.org Member Owned. So it appears the “member owned” domains are getting more attention now as they should. I only checked those 4, but all were member owned. I have said in the past that I think it is still worth listing your domains via Afternic. Now have I been getting offers and making sales via Afternic, no. I still list them though.
