Crestor®, the makers of a cholesterol lowering medication has rolled out a new ad on TV using the domain name ArteryTour.com to help explain the benefits of it’s cholesterol meds while using a make sense domain to match it’s main message in the ad.
When visiting ArteryTour.com, it may seem like a simple forward (301 redirection) but the link clearly shows the TV ad tracking info the company uses.

I am sure there are other tracking info in that link, but those were the easiest ones to pick out. Not only does it track the ad source, the site shows the artery tour on it’s site the domain forwards to.
One thing that I found interesting while doing some research for this story, Crestor, the brand and main domain name for the site does not even rank #1 on Google search for crestor it’s main brand.
One down side to using 301 redirection like ArteryTour.com, in order to have a title and meta discription in search engines if people do search for the term, iFrames need to be used and most major search engines really do not like domains that do it. It will not likely rank as high in the search engines that you would like.
A way to help with this, is to have a Blog on your main website and write about the domain name you are using in the ad (forwarding to your main site)! Be sure to use the domain name in the Title and description to help build trust in your domain used and connecting it to your brand. Although most people will likely visit the domain used in the ad directly, some will still "search" for something they already know on search engines like Google and Yahoo.
Crestor get’s outranked by RXList.com, Drugs.com and WebMD.com to mention a few for the crestor search term. Crestor.com does rank 6th and 7th and also uses Adwords advertising but something is lacking on the main site. Only 1.9 million indexed pages show for the term Crestor, but I really see no main reason why Crestor.com should not rank #1 for the matching term.
One thing could be because search engine spiders search Left to Right and they start there page title with lower cholesterol, and then follow with the brand name Crestor.
Crestor.com get’s about 66K monthly unique vistors per month according to Compete.com .
ArteryTour.com has been owned by Crestor / AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP since November 2008 when the domain was created.

I still upped you by 2 months and one page rank on this. )::
It does drive a ton of traffic- because even though Crestor bought the sponsored link and organically own pr1 and 2- they use flash so there is no description to compell everyone to click. Having covered 100s of call-to-action campaigns and always rank right below the sponsor, I see this all the time. I originally was motivated in doing this to gather documentation to share with ad agencies. The first one, and the biggest one, didn’t seem to care. They had won a Clio for their flash and the client was happy. Go figure.

Darn it
I knew I should of stuck the matching keyword in the meta description one more time!
I hit on one yesterday that made my traffic stat ticker run crazy and discovered a new one yesterday that I will share with you as soon as I collect all the data.

The health of everyone is not a real concern if
we fail to stop all the shipping around the pol-
al seas. The kinetic wave activity which is
occurring at the poles is melting the ice, just
as in a glass of ice. The more action, they
just melt more. This all started with the ‘ice
breakers’ and shipping around the poles. If we
stop it now, we might have a chance. Otherwise,
we are doomed. The heat will be a killer, and
that’s just for starters. Just look at Mars.
Good luck with the vascular problems everyone.
