I happened to be having some lunch with my wife and looked at her can of soda she had in her hand. It wasn’t the flashy can that stood out at me, it was RootBeer.com on the can of the diet A&W root beer soda that did!
Talk about Make Sense Marketing! You offer the product Root Beer and back it up owning and developing a site for your customers at RootBeer.com.

Dr Pepper/Seven Up, Inc. is the owner of A&W Root Beer. Above image is from RootBeer.com .
Talk about having an edge! With Dr Pepper/Seven Up, Inc. owning this premium generic domain name, put’s them one BIG step ahead of all other companies that sell Root Beer! RootBeer.com adds that extra edge in advertising holding the exact match domain to the generic term being sold!
Although many other root beer beverages are sold by competitors, A&W is the only one to own the exact match domain name in the King extension .com .
A&W was very wise to put the matching product name directly on it’s product as well. A LOT of people see these cans and bottles in stores, parties, work etc and it’s like free advertising putting the domain name RootBeer.com on the labels, so why not do it!

Funny that root-beer.org is #2 (where I am). It looks like something from the 70′s!

@Lumpenfolk,
I noticed that as well. Did you notice the “name change” as well. It says RootBeerWorld.com (formerly known as Root-Beer.org). Wise of them to keep the root-beer.org due to it’s SE rankings.
