Here are some bits and pieces of domain name information I have floating around in my head. These type of posts I had called "This and That" in the past. Enjoy.
~ Snapnames.com has a planned fix for the database of domain names that are listed, yet have been renewed and are still listed on the site. You know the domains I am talking about… EcoMobiles.com, LuxuryCouture.com, SellMyHouse.org etc. I had brought it to the attention of SnaNames several times and even wrote a couple posts about this problem. I sent an email to Craig Calder over at SnapNames for a follow up today and he stated the problem has been found and the fix will be put in place April 28, 2010.
This should make it a bit easier for domainers who search domain names at SnapNames by bidder amount and are sick of seeing domain names listed that should not be, over and over and over again! I know I am looking forward to the fix and hope it takes place as planned.
~ Funny tid bit.. Did you ever visit Freshdrop.net and get that super annoying Terms and Conditions box that pops up every time you visit the site? I hate that F’n box, as I’m sure you do as well. I have not used the service since they switched away from providing the Godaddy domains for free, but I understand why they went to a pay model. After visiting today and getting annoyed by that darn agree to terms box, I click Disagree for fun to see what would happen! Sure as sh!t, you click Disagree and it sends you to Google.com! Funny guy! He could at least send people to a domaining related site!
If you do happen to click Agree and then happen to click Blog and then click the Home tab again… you guessed it, Agree to terms again box!
That is almost enough to prevent you (me) from signing up but the real reason I haven’t signed up… is because it seems a bit pricey. The data is really not all very accurate and there isn’t really a clear easy Sign Up button on the home page… these are some of the things which hold me back as well.
No site is perfect but I always suggest that if you are a site owner, use the service as your customers would so you are very aware of how it is. Fix the little things (and big) and pay attention to the people bitching about things.
~ Godaddy.com’s $100K commercial contest is almost over and I watched the one that I think should win. Sorry for the Bit.ly link, but that is the only thing GD provides for sharing it on a site. Watch the video here, called http://bit.ly/bLPlHr – "Furry Filters Testimonial" . I think the submitted commercial GREATLY explains what GoDaddy offers, which is much better than the ads they currently run. I don’t mind them having pretty looking girls, and this commercial does as well, but at least this one states better to the public of what GoDaddy really does and can do for somebody looking to get on the web! Watch it if you have about 35 seconds of spare time and see if you agree with me.
Founder and CEO Bob Parsons posted a new video post at BobParsons.me today as well. Another worth watching video.
~ The DomainNameWire.com auction by Andrew is up and running. The auction ends on 4/27 but now is the time to check it out and plot your course of action if you are planning on bidding. The majority of domains are listed under $1K and many with little or no reserve. 8 domains have bids so far with EEV.net leading the way at $13,000. I personally only have one domain in the auction but it is one that I like a lot, Managed.org . I like it because a lot of services offer managing services and Managed makes a lot of sense as well as Professional Looking. Managed.org, with the very trusted extension of .org and a single dictionary term that Make Sense. Visit www.Managed.org today, which will directly you to the auction listing page.
Thank you for being a reader! Feel free to submit some news, ask questions or just drop me an email. I try and reply to every email I get as quickly as I can.
