Boxcar.com has been launched by the people from DomainConsultant.com and started with a $29.95 annual membership fee but for a short time the guys have went from premium draft beer to accepting the cheapest they can find while continuing to launch what many expect to be a domain name auction service that will not soon drop off the radar!
So for a buck, it is well worth having an account to bid, buy or sell domain names so you should really take advantage of the $1 current offering because it’s a deal!
Many of us know that when launching a new service, traffic and buyers are pretty hard to come by but the team behind Boxcar.com have a large list of domain name buyers from running several Domain Madness auctions and the contacts many of them have from being in the domain name industry for a long time!
Boxcar.com offers a simple fee structure for domain name sellers, $5 Bucks for members and that is it! No 10%, 20% if the domain name sells added onto the listing fee of the domain. Simply $5 to list the domain and that is it!
This will help keep some of the crap domains out of the auctions, plus make it a bit easier on the pocketbooks of domain name sellers.
I didn’t want or feel like signing up at $29.95 a year either and I didn’t but I did take advantage of the $1 discount price to at least test drive the system. I listed one domain name (Recovered.org) and the process was simple. You can add in your own content and even a video if you so choose and several more options.
The auction format is a bit different than most as it runs in stages if you so choose. Beta | Preview | Open For Bids . Basically, in Beta and Preview modes allow the seller to still have the option to "change, add, remove" things like content, video and I would assume adjust the price if no bids are placed yet.
Another sweet thing is you can list an auction lot of up to 50 domain names and have different bidders bid on single domains in the lot and not just bid on the whole lot! It wasn’t that clear to me on the cost of this option. (OK, I found the answer.. Flat Fee no matter if you list one domain or 50, it is $5)! Sweet!
Both single and lot auctions have a 60 day maximum listing time, so you do not have to just run a 5-7 day auction like most of the other auction services. You can visit the Boxcar.com Help Page and have the vast majority of your questions answered.

As always, there are some things I do not like and I will share those for constructive criticism:
- The site is slow
- Design? I thought it was a parking page at first
Things improve as you get into your account. - Wish Boxcar would use the Moniker Escrow API for another option for Escrow
- They offer Paypal as a payment, but were not clear if Mass Pay will be suggested to buyers
- Link structure is for the birds. It would be nice to have an easy link structure to linking to a specific auction.

What I would like: http://boxcar.com/domain=domainhere.com
I expect to see many innovative things from Boxcar.com and a lot of great domain name listed and selling! A lot of great domain names are already listed, so be sure to check it out and take advantage of the $1 offering currently to at least test drive the service and see if you like it.
I am not associated with Boxcar.com at all and this was not a paid post.

Jamie,
In your opening comment you said: “Boxcar has been launched… with a $29.95 annual membership fee.”
$29.95 Annual fee.
But later on you added: “I didn’t want or feel like signing up at $29.95 a month either”.
$29.95 Monthly
Is the promotional $1.00 membership fee for just one month or for one year?
Thanks.
Jamie Zoch
Thank you for pointing that out Tricolorro, I have adjusted it in the article. The fee is an Annual fee
The $1 would be this years annual membership fee from my understanding.
@RichieM_
Cool I was looking at BoxCar yesterday
But, have you a link to the $1 offer Jamie? All I can see about pricing is “Get started now, a seller account is only $29.95 per year – but only until October 1st (regular $39.95).” on the home page.
Cheers, RichieM

@RichieM_,
When you get to the payment process during the sign-up, the price is $1. No link needed.

Good write up Jamie, I was going to not join but your write up was the best on explanation of the site.

“The $1 would be this years annual membership fee from my understanding.”
Cool.
It’s kind of a no brainer deal.
Mauro
Price is $5 per domain you list.
Anyway, i listed 5 domains which will be listed tomorrow under Green Energy Domains
PS: Yes… the website is slowwwww
Jamie Zoch
@mauro,
You could list them as a Lot and then it is just $5 but yes, listing them individual will cost $5 each. Lots clearly have their advantage and so do single listings.

Thanks Jamie, love the ‘do not like’ list! Yes, we have things to work on, thanks a ton for the feedback. We’ll keep working to improve.
Gnanes
BoxCar only for US Domainers only? The Zip Code field only allows numbers.

Thanks Gnanes, having that changed and adjusted and also wanted everyone to know we are working on many requests and improvements, stay tuned.
