OMG, as someone who is an AVN Hall of Fame Adult performer (search my stage name-- Dave Cummings!), and just happens to own thousands of adult and Non-adult domains, I'm finding it hilarious that some folks are questioning this issue.

I wonder if this week will surface any more supposedly religious American politicians who preach one thing but hypocritically "partake"?

The only thing that matters is how much more did the cash register ring for "Why Park" after the commercial. And I'd guess like GoDaddy very little because people are tuned in to the sex and tuned out of the message (in GoDaddy's case there is no message- a missed opportunity to educate end users during a SuperBowl.)

I'd bet on the FreeCreditReport.com type ads any day over sex, because at the end of the day there's action and sales and you understand they understand your problem and can solve it.

Another blog today talks about subliminal advertising. Yes there is subliminal advertising that the people who engineered this thinking it gets them sales when it really gets them squat, are boobs.

hmmm...the things people do - not just domainers - to get publicity, good or bad.

i haven't seen it yet, but not necessary in order to produce a reaction...

yes, it's somewhat out of bounds - obscenity at its shy look hiding behind a loud slogan...

which is which? the message or the messenger?...it's like Playboy promoting anti-abortion, lol...indeed the means doesn't justify the ends.

i admire Chef Patrick for his talent and creativity (i love his comics). but what you do speaks of you. he just got bad ADvisers on this one. :p not all domainers are male, for one.

So sad so many people are so critical over this.
Funny, when I was in Germany they had legal prostitution, billboards that show naked girls etc They did not seem up tight about it over there and it appears we have the most sex crimes almost anywhere because people are so up tight about nudity and sex that there are numerous laws making criminals out of people that elsewhere would never be. We have the religious fanatics, then you have those that prefer the same sex and if they are males this is very appalling to them. I do not believe that sex is what they are selling or representing but whether people want to publicly acknowledge or not many people are drawn to sexual nature of things. This is a natural thing and is being used as a tool for attention and when done there will always be a great deal of controversey and is a tactic of media to utilize all the time. Because this is more sexual in nature many people fear it. Sex is a part of nature and just because a lot of people have hang ups about it being exposed or
in fear because that should not be in the open
and we are not animals is ridiculous. If it is so offensive then don't watch it. Or many will say what they think others want to hear and others will stick to it out of fear of ridicule they may face. This is just a gross exagerration of politics. Nothing more --- most all of us have sex --- Does it bother you then??? I think not ! ! !
Don't get me wrong as far as value though. I think if one has nothing to offer but sexual content then maybe that should be their niche. But Chef Patrik does offer good content and maybe a little to different for some but I bet many a male find it a more pleasing to the eye to see some pretty young girl help putting out the interesting subject matter many are there to hear from sure maybe you can find that elsewhere also but I feel it is more lively and upbeat and am stressed out on sexual hangups.
It comes down to this as a male-- Would you rather hear and see some old guy telling you the updates in your market in which he may be unenthusiastic or some you fine looking gal giving you that same info with eye appeal and enthusiasm. And from which will you probably retain more of what was said???
By the way I believe Dr. Bob Parsons was enthused with the controversey created with his Super Bowl ad and said that is where the power of the advertising comes from is the controversey. Overall though, I do not believe we are in a time or people are comfortable enough to do this form of advertising as of yet. Think of the number of nudist colonies although we may all be born naked and many will be naked with those they are comfortable with and yet see how many are not in a more public environment.

This type of "advertising" is tasteless and rude - not to mention just plain stupid. Who cares if Bob Parsons does it? So what!

Is this how WhyPark really wants to build their brand? Seriously? I'm stunned that they're okay with this. There are so many better things to be associated with than naked women. For instance, quality service, excellent features, revenue, usabilty, or just being a great bunch of people. Using a nipple to get attention is just being lazy.

I stopped reading Chef Patrick's blog because of these videos. I thought they were cheap and unnecessary. The videos actually drove me away rather than kept me coming back. The blog content was okay but I have plenty of other blogs to read and these videos are certainly not why I was coming to the blog and I've now stopped reading it completely.

I think it's really funny that he thinks he's created "buzz" All he's created is his 15 minutes. How sad that he thinks it's more. If the only way he can think to create buzz is by being offensive and rude then maybe he should try to learn a little more about marketing. Yes, sex, is one very common way to getting attention. I get that. But, it's just not enough on it's own either. At some point, he WILL need to come up with some substance. Videos would be a great opportunity to get real content across, it's unfortunate that the only thing he uses them for is a pathetic cry for attention.
