Several sources are reporting that FOX® "might of" registered the domain name ConanOnFox.com on 1-12-2010. TMZ.com even ran a report on it’s site. Since I know a thing or two about domain names, here are the potentials and the reasons why I think it’s somebody other than FOX that registered the domain name.

FOX’s main owned domains (around 18K) mainly are registered with MarkMonitor.com . ConanOnFox.com is registered with Godaddy.com .

Now I think the biggest difference and the reason why I think FOX did not register the domain. Admin and Technical data in the whois records are "a little off" then most of Fox’s whois details. Scammer’s and the like often miss the little details…

There are many differences in the whois records for the domain ConanOnFox.com.

1.) Contact details all repeat 

2.) "Twentieth Century Fox Co" are backwards and they only have "Co" and not Corporation!

3.) Spells out California when just CA is used by the main Fox sites

I think this is somebody just playing around but including the FOX term in the domain WILL spell trouble for them. The domain simply uses a redirect to a Twitter.com page that was just created as well but has now been suspended by Twitter for "Strange Activity".

Domain name registrars allow it’s customers to have separate records for each domain name in your account if you so choose, as you could be a webmaster and purchase a domain name for somebody. In return, you may put the domain name into your customers name and not your company.

This basically means, that anybody can put any information they wish into a whois record.

PantsOnTheGround.com happened to be registered in November of 2009 (likely around when the show was tapped) and it appears that a Fox producer may have registered that domain as reported by TheDomains.com.
