DoNotVoteForMyDad.com | A website created by what appears to be a ticked off daughter and son-in-law is grabbing some wide exposure and well, the domain name speaks for itself. Do Not Vote For My Dad! "The dad" is stated to be John Mantooth who is running for judge in McClain County.
Jan Schill, 31, said she never has had a good relationship with her father and doesn’t think he’d make a good judge.
"We just felt like it would be bad if he were to become a judge," Schill said in a telephone interview from her home in Durango, Colo. "I assumed that he would not appreciate it, but he’s made so many people mad, I’m just another mark on his board of people’s he’s had a beef with." as stated in a StarTribune.com article.
A quarter page ad was taken out in a newspaper which stated Do Not Vote For My Dad! and included the matching term as a domain name for people to visit.
Crazy stuff, I know!
One interesting thing to me.. the site only has 3 blog posts on it, About Us and Family Info page and an Information page with little details on it. On the right sidebar is a stats ticker at 320,313 and climbing extremely fast!
The domain name was registered at GoDaddy.com on 7/19/2010 to a Jan Schill and at least by the 21st was using WordPress hosting for the WordPress blog the site uses.
So in less than 8 days… from 0 people to a site to well over 300,000 is pretty amazing. I would think by days end… that number could reach 1 Million.
Just shows the power of a domain name and a little press. Without the domain name, having one easy location anybody in the world can visit at any time.. wouldn’t happen!
DoNotVoteForMyDad.com simply makes sense and is getting Jan’s message across! Here is a picture of the Ad that was put in the newspaper.
