Going through lists of domain names can be a pain! Most lists include TLD’s that you do not want to see, include domains with numbers, hypens and so on.
Here are a couple tools that I use to sort lists to more of a manageable size.
Excel~ Most people have Microsoft Excel. Although the tool is really a "numbers" software it works well for domain names. I really do not know a ton about Excel, but this works for getting rid of domains you do not want to weed through.
- Open excel and import your list of domain names (under 65K)
- Once the list is up, press Ctrl+F
- Click the Replace Tab
- In the Find What box you will enter a * and then what you want to Remove. Example, if you want to find and remove .net domains from the list, you would enter *.net and click Find All. After the system finds all the domains and you want to Remove them, simply click Replace All. Besure that you leave the Replace With box empty. All .net domains will be removed from the list.
- You can find and replace numbers, hypens etc. You would enter *-* to find/remove hypens. *0* to find and replace domains with a zero in it. *1* etc.
- You can then use the AZ Ascending or Descending to dump the blank lines.
Option Two, using the DRT software if you have it. (I suggest purchasing it if you are serious about domaining)
*You can take that list from above as well (copy & paste) and go to Options/Add Domains/Add. Then go to File/Export to CSV/Save and all the "spaces" will be removed as well.
You can also filter a domain list using DRT by going to Options/Filter Settings. Set how you want to filter your domain list. Then go to File/Import Domains. The system should filter with the settings you put in.
Option Three. LazyMate.com which is a free tool that I created which allows You the user to import (paste in the box in the center of site) a list of domains and sort either using the tools on the left (quick search) or basic search on the right. Set your setting, paste your domain list (under 20K works best, over 30K will not work) and hit search.
You can also use the File Splitter (file/file splitter) via DRT to make your lists 25K or less and use LazyMate.com .
