A great deal of domain names can come across as something you did not intend for it to. I have expressed many times that you have to make your domain name look good as well, so it’s clear to your customers.

Most of the time making your domain name looking good is by capitializing the first letter in each keyword. It’s easy, just a lot of people do not do it. If you do not, you can run into issues like this domain name:

expertsexchange.com . Looking at this domain leaves it up to the reader to think what the site might be about. It’s either ExpertSexChange.com or ExpertsExchange. Two way different meanings, which can easily be cleared up by the domain owner!

Sometimes Acronyms can cause an issue as well.

nobjs.org which is the acronym of North of Boston Jewish Singles. I would of picked a different domain then use an acronym :)

You can get a list of about 100 or more of these type of domain names at Slurls.com

Sometimes it makes a difference in what extension you decide to use. A company with the acronym of RIM made the wise choice of using the .jobs extension. Not a very wise choice unless they are going against nobjs.org . Rim used the domain name Rim.jobs .

Sometimes companies use creative names on purpose to draw in the attention. If you are a lumber company, why not have the domain name DicksLumber.com . If you are a liquor store.. this might be pushing the limit, but BeaverLiquors.com was the choice for one. This name came about in a "Naming Contest" and has lead into T-shirt sales as well.

If traveling is more your thing, then maybe you go with gotahoe.com ? Got A Hoe? or as they intended, GoTahoe.com .

Another acronym issue: KFC made alittle boo boo and named it’s Unthink web address, UnthinKFC.com . Unthin KFC doesn’t look good for a fried or unfried chicken food joint if you ask me. They may have meant Unthink FC (Fried Chicken) but some may see it the way I did. UnthinKFC.com.
