Yesterday I spent half the day networking with a couple other business owners and I think these little meet ups are vital for any small business owners. Being a domain investor, your chances greatly increase as many small business owners have a lot of ideas and most look at the net to make it happen!
I have went to several different networking sessions and I have enjoyed all of them. I have went to some with as little as 2 other people and up to nearly 150 people.
I think if you can get 20-30 people, that’s a pretty sweet number as with 150 people there is no way you can speak with them all unless you have a couple days. Speed networking is good, but it’s hard to dish out enough ideas to make something further then the "talk". You can spark business relationships in speed networking, but a little longer chats can produce long term business relationships.
With social networking the size that it is, Twitter.com and LinkedIn.com has a great deal of Tweet Ups and other local networking events all the time. Search around on Twitter.com for a tweet up in your area and go! The same thing with LinkedIn or any other place you may know.
The biggest thing that I can suggest, is to go. 98% are FREE and the only thing that will cost you, is a little time.
Come prepared and at least have business cards with you! It doesn’t hurt to bring a list of your domain name and stick them in your pocket.
Domain names are very unique and vital for branding, natural traffic, SEO reasons and so much more!
Some networking groups are more focused on "something" but if your a domain investor, it likely doesn’t matter what the theme is or the group! You will have some interested parties but you have to go to make things happen.
