I must say that Domaining.com did help DotWeekly.com rise in the ranks of domain blogs with it’s service and I thank them for that! The win/win situation that Domaining.com (which I am going to call D from now on) was just that. It was a win for D because it grabbed my content that I work hard at to write daily, so it had new news from me and among others. In return, the traffic that D got/get’s resulted in traffic for the blog providers that click and read the stories posted.
I have stated in the past that D’s traffic that comes to DotWeekly is under 10% and that could clearly be seen when I posted my end of the year stats. Now nobody wants to lose 5-8% of it’s traffic either and it upsets me that the people that only read D will not see my blog.
I do not charge a penny and give information from my heart about my beloved Domain Industry!
It also makes me sad that "The Reason" why DotWeekly was removed from D.
I placed a domain name news story widget for AllTop.com and it’s "domain section" in the blue middle sidebar area to the right here on DotWeekly. Not on top next to the D logo. Not second spot down on my site, Not 3rd spot down, Not 5th, 6th or even 7th spot down but 8th! The Very Last thing that is even in the blue middle side bar!
Did D ask me to remove the widget? Nope!
Did I think it was wrong to have the very small widget on my site providing relevant content that has to do with the domain name industry? Hell No!
I’m not sure if Domaining.com is simply afraid of a little competition and didn’t want anybody from D to see that D is not the only feed provider of domain news?
I’m not sure if D is feeling the hurt from this subscription Fee to it’s readers to read Free news and is a little on edge?
I’m not sure if D has something against DotWeekly because I have posted several stories about the Fee Based site D has gone to?
I asked D directly if my feed was removed since I was never contacted and the reply back was:
Your feed has been removed. You succeed to get what you was looking for.
Since the removal of DotWeekly’s feed to D came shortly after I put up the AllTop.com domain name news widget and my direct question after the reply above went unanswered, I have to say that is the reason.
Amazing, a domain news site can’t have other domain news on it’s site and provide news to another domain name news site.
You can always read DotWeekly.com for free right at www.DotWeekly.com . I will not "edit" any posts so you can not see certain things. I will not make you sign in to read anything. I will not charge you one day and not charge others at all the next.
I will always be as clear as I can! If a change comes, I will let you know.
I do wish Domaining.com the best and it’s the owners right to allow what feeds it wants! I understand this.
I can also suggest you check out NameBee.com and AllTop.com which offer news feeds from domain blogs as well that DotWeekly.com is included in. Both are Free. NameBee.com offers a Unique option I think you will love. You can read more about that here. AllTop.com is created by Guy Kawasaki. If you are not aware who he is, you can checkout his blog here. You can also check out his Book Reality Check.

Francois is mad because he is FAILING. His arrogance and ignorance has cost him. ALLTOP produced by Guy Kawasaki, a reputable source, and followed by Venture companies WITH money versus broke domainers, rules! My experience is pout your names for sale in headlines with a blog post on each and ALLTOP will bring you what D couldn’t- bring you BOTH traffic and SALES.

I was a bit upset about the removal at first, but this has made me think OUTSIDE the domain industry a lot more. Learning things and posting on Facebook, Twitter and offering my feed to other popular services. My goal is now to Triple my traffic!!! Thanks D!

Don’t forget SocialDN.com
!

Don’t think too much about it. D was charging me membership fees. I would never pay D for something that someone else has written. By the way Jamie, there is this site dn.vc that a NP member had put up. Maybe you know about it. Another competitor of D.

Wow, this si the day, I do think D is Failing because he has become money hungrey vs getting to the source of news. I dont see why any bloggers let him pull there feeds for free, why not charge only him for feeds since he uses you to make money use him to make money. Would that be fair? Yes, I tried to get my blog listed on D and he told me I would have to pay $100 listing fee then have a PR before he would list mine. Then Ross can to me with http://SocialDn.com It pulls feeds for All Domaining Blogs and list them on the side menu. You get link backs you get credit, you get everything you should from SocialDN. What do you get from D, beside traffic redirects and some link backs. Nothing, D is charging now or maybe not, I dont know, I know I didnt pay. I wont pay. More people reading domaining blogs are figuring out how to use Social Bookmarking sites such as Digg, to get the news and using there own RSS feed bars like the one FireFox has. Why are you letting D get money from what you wrote/write?
Thats what I have to say about it. Domaining is going down as the site not the industry.

Take it easy. Domaining.com is not as important to the industry as Francois likes to believe. I had my feed pulled from the site when Francois announced he would begin to charge members to read.
By the way, I’ve talked to other bloggers and they told me they were considering to have their feeds removed, too.

Bloggers who depend on domaining.com for traffic would be best not to put all their eggs in this one basket. Diversify before it’s too late. NameBEE and ALLTOP are excellent options.

Thank you for the comment Rick! It’s funny I had more traffic yesterday then when I was on domaining.com . This little change made me rethink again, which brought AllTop.com, Facebook and NameBee.com into the picture. It’s so important to think outside the box and I was stuck inside of it for a little bit.

Looks like Fickle Francois changed his mind again? There is a post from Jan 22 from you on Domaining.com, and the post saying you were removed was on Jan 21st. That guy needs to think before he acts, because he always backpedals.
Although in this case I’m glad he did, I would have been pretty upset it he kept your blog off for such a silly reason. I’m a paying member, and he shouldn’t get to decide what I read.

Francois and I had a little chat and I left it up to him if he wanted to put DotWeekly back on Domaining.com . He decided to do so after our chat. So I am back on Domaining.com.

How old is this guy? just like a kid (if not offend anyone or him)
Gordon
He is really making some questionable decisions. He could have done so well with that site, but now it is on the way down. If he had simply decided to work WITH more people instead of against them he’d be way ahead. Instead, he has been difficult, and has specifically created competition for himself as a result.

Glad to hear that you are back on D. It would have been F’s loss anyway, as your blog is another good blog continuing to grow in quality and size.
