The typo potential on Oscar Mayer® is pretty big and today on Google trends shows some clear proof of it. What surprised me the most, was people even were searching the .net version (proper spelling) of the domain..

Oscar Meyer Typo Searches

The proper spelling is Mayer but many search with Meyer. One of the bad things for the Kraft® company is they do not own the typo version OscarMeyer.com or the .net which happens to be available (Do Not Register IMO) . The typo .com domain name is currently parked with Parked.com but does not show any hot dog ads from what I can tell.

Why are people looking for OscarMayer.com today? They are giving away $1 Million dollars worth of Oscar Mayer Beef Franks!! Check out OscarMayer.com to get your coupon and Kraft should consider getting the typo domain OscarMeyer.com!

~ During a commercial last night for the cleaning product Easy Off®, which I was happy to see because today I was going to get some for my grill anyway. The company offered in it’s commercial to visit it’s site EasyOff.us to get the coupon.

So the Easy Off brand is promoting it’s product with a .us domain name which I found interesting.. but checking today via whois showed me a reason why they may be using the .us TLD.. they do not own the .com!

I did go to get my coupon today from the site but was pretty ticked when I did! The first page after clicking the coupon asks for your mailing address which I did put in (I get enough junk mail as it is but figured why not) and clicked Submit. Do you think I could get my coupon!! Nope, some darn Download page so I can print the coupon. What a joke.. I have enough stuff on my computer and don’t need to download some crappy coupon printer software!

So they got my info, but I didn’t get my 50 cent off coupon!

So while at the store today, I did see the Easy Off brand that I wanted to buy, but I purchased the Generic Brand instead! Hah, take that Easy Off and your BS way of printing a coupon! It cost you a customer.

BTW, EasyOff.com is a generic Godaddy parked page making Godaddy money with all the "Cleaning" product ads…

Oscar Mayer is using Promotions.com to collect it’s data and offer it’s coupons and Easy Off is using e-centives.com aka HomeSolutionsNews® for theirs. Maybe Easy Off should consider visiting Promotions.com and use that service.

I find it frustrating that companies like Easy Off (KFC & many more) use those coupon printing programs, but they want to limit how many times you print them, so I guess that’s the only real way to do it. (Though you can probably photocopy some of them.) The only other way is to mail the coupon… so the company has to weigh the pros/cons of getting the coupon now or later. PG for instance mails out a whole booklet of coupons, though most I just didn’t want.

But these companies really need to get a few other versions of their domain names, they must be losing business for sure.

Oh boy, in an absurd 4-6 weeks… I’ll have free hot dogs. BTW, doing it this way also helps keep the USPS in business. : )
