Here is a little bit of what’s on my mind! I like doing these kinds of posts as they allow me to chat about several things that I am thinking, all in one spot.
~ As many of you know I am a heavy Google Trends watcher and I have been noticing that searches that include a TLD are not happening as of late. They always did before! Does this mean searchers are getting smarter? Using Direct Navigation more? Google removed the TLD from being included or is it due to the URL now being included in the search box as you type in your term? I wrote about that on May 28, 2009.
It’s interesting and I will keep watching it, but I think the URL in the search box is having something to do with this, which would also tell me that search to direct navigation is picking up! There really isn’t a term for this, as I wouldn’t call it a full search if the user clicks the URL before hitting the Search Button. Chromomulator.com is a new Trend style site that uses Google Trends terms, and bring in Digg and other sites based on the keyword for the specific trend. Kinda cool.
~ Who would bid on a domain name like this?
![]()
Clearly somebody at NameJet.com as it’s backordered for $69 currently in the Pending Delete section!
~ I have not been "drop catching" for sometime now and gave it a go yesterday. After it was all said and done… It was more a waste of about 3 hours. By the time that I get the list for the day, remove the type of domains I do not want to scan, run a DRT scan on the ones I did want to and hand pick out the domains I wanted to "go for", then spend the 1 hr 15 min manually drop catching
Moniker was a bit slow from time to time during the drop, which is never fun. It reduces your chances of getting a domain and makes you a little ticked due to the work put in to get to that point. I went for 6 .com domains total and ended up with a goose egg! 0.
I may give it a couple more shots in the coming days, so I will see if things pick up a bit. Most domains I missed went to registrars, so I wouldn’t of had any chance at getting them as I manual drop catch and do not own a registrar.
~ Now that PremiumLogos.com and KeyFactor.com are both up and running, this will allow me to take a little development break and be back to blogging a bit more until I come up with the next project
Two full sites in two weeks isn’t bad
. As always, if you wish for me to write about something specific here on DotWeekly, please use the contact tab on the top menu bar and contact me.
~ Two domain sales this week so far to report for me: PanFish.com for $1,000 and MidwayService.com $750. A couple other nibblers on the line, so we will see if those turn into sales at some point. Once again…. it appears my new little system is working, which makes me happy! Since I use the domain name MustOwn.com, I had a reason for this! The urls become… MustOwn.com/DomainName.com

Paul Pullen
Hi,
Thanks for the mention of my site, Chromomulator.com. However, the link appears broken in the post.
Thanks again,
Paul

@Paul,
No problem. I fixed the link as well.. had er at the end instead of or.

@Tony,
I try and stick with “Business Name” related drops. Ones that I can see being used by a start up etc. Some product names and or service related.

Congrats on the sales Jamie!
