Here is a little bit of what I have been thinking and things I have noticed lately that are not worth a full blog posting, so they are microblogging’s all in one post.
~ After Parked.com announced the purchase of WhyPark.com, the WhyPark.com service gained over 2,800 domains to it’s service in one day. Since the start of April 2009, WhyPark.com has gained over 11,000 domain names in the month alone with a total of over 69,240 domains using the service as of yesterday.
Since the service has now waived it’s $99 fee, I would expect this number to continue to go up. I myself have not used WhyPark, but I may give it a try.
~ BuyDomains.com has crossed over the 900,000 mark on domain names it owns!
~ I was sorry to see that Rick Latona Auctions didn’t have the best results from it’s Live domain auction at TRAFFIC. Without the sale of Webcam.com for $1Million in it’s last adult auction before TRAFFIC, that would of been two so/so auctions in a row. Besides the Overload of "Live Domain Auctions", I think the biggest thing hurting Rick’s auctions is the online interface he is using. I have heard several people had problems registering or placing bids. I also think a lot of people are unaware of the domain of the service or just the service itself.
I really think Rick is a Top Notch guy with great domains and he can hold a great auction, but a Great online auction platform is Vital to selling domain names at a live auction. I would like to see Rick work a deal with Aftermarket to use there system, which I think is the best.
In a perfect world, I think ALL Live Domain Auction events from conferences should take place using the Aftermarket.com auction system.
~ I have been "learning" the past couple of days. I have been playing around with my Xsite Pro development software for little things to do with development and domains in general. I like doing these kinds of things but it also takes up a big deal of time. That’s the downside… The payout is not often quick, but self learning can pay off in the long run. Even one very small discovery can become a game changer.
~ It wasn’t until just the other day that I heard the term "Swine Flu", but SwineFlu.com was registered back in 2000. Hmmm.. Just like BirdFlu.com, if this domain is going to be sold, it needs to be sold Now before all the talk dies down. Checking Whois, I think this happened!!! Jarred from Bido.com owned the domain and as of 4-28-2009 whois shows the owner as Blue Strings Ventures Inc. . I also noticed the domain is or was listed on Sedo and Afternic for $55K currently, when it was listed for $550 the last time I checked a couple days ago.

Blue Strings Ventures Inc. also owns SwineFlu.info which was created 4-23-2009.

Someone sure hit the jackpot with Swine Flu. As you said, better get that sold while everyone’s still talking about it
