Yesterday, DnJournal.com reported the domain name sale of CookingGames.com for $350,000 . Anytime a domain name sells for a higher dollar amount and it’s not a category killer type domain like Jets.com or Mouse.com etc., the price paid seems to be interesting to many and leaves a lot of people with questions.
In this case, DnJournal.com is a very trusted source and the price reported had to be true, so the questions then focus on the buyer and the domain name!
It is not all that often after a domain name is purchased for a higher dollar amount that the buyer speaks about the purchase as many like to stay in privacy while hiding there niche.
Well, it is one of those rare times that we get to hear a little bit of information directly from the end user buyer. Larry Fischer of DirectNavigation.com wrote a short blog post about the CookingGames.com sale for $350K because he was shocked by the sales price and the fact that not many people likely put the two terms Cooking and Games together.
In the comment section of the post, the end user buyer posted a comment and later posted several more comments about the purchase and several other purchases and sites they run. "Bill" is the buyer and is behind the HallpassMedia.com site that offers up many game related sites!
Since this is very nice information to see that Bill has opened up about, and came out in a comment section of a site, I wanted to be sure to point it out to you as I think the information is very helpful. Checkout the post by Larry and read the comments when you get a chance.
Be sure to look at the other sites from Hallpass Media and try to learn from the things they are doing and put those towards your niche!
You will notice the first comment by Bill is short and to the point. "Bought on 8x ppc revenue" . I wanted to be sure to explain what this means for those who do not know or may be unsure.
8X PPC Revenue means the buyer paid 8 "years" (times) the amount of Pay Per Click revenue the domain name CookingGames.com made in a year. PPC revenue is generated from a domain name parking page. If my math is correct, that means CookingGames.com made $43,750 in a years worth of parking revenue. $43,750 X 8 = $350,000 . The $350,000 becomes the sales price of the domain that the buyer and seller agreed to.
According to the Google Adwords Tool, the term Cooking Games is searched for globally 2,240,000 times Per Month alone! Who would of thought that!
