With the recent upgrade to the search function and how domain names are displayed over at Sedo.com, I think the Featured Listing domain names and Top Domains features become more valuable. Featured Domains, also called "Showcase" in your Sedo account is a paid feature at $39 for 30 days and that only covers the US site. It can cost up to $69 for all five languages of Sedo’s site. If you select all five, the cost is $69 per 30 days.

I was never a fan of this feature before mainly due to the cost/exposure rate but now seeing that Featured Domains are listed on the very TOP of the auction page if the domain name is at auction… is a bit more interesting!

In the above screen shot, you will notice the first two domain names displayed have paid for the Featured Domain feature. On each domain auction page the featured domains are displayed on the top. Top Domains is a free function that displays those domains just below Featured Domains and is a nice added touch, but you still need to apply for it and have your domain name approved before it would show there.

Both features need to be selected before the domain name was sent to auction!

There are many times when I am aware "a bid" will be coming in on one of my domains when I am working with somebody directly. If I plan on sending the domain name to auction on the offer, it just may be worth spending the extra $39 to make the domain "Featured" before the bid comes in if I plan to send the domain to auction on the bid. After the bid comes in, then the Featured Domain will be on top of the Marketplace auction page for the duration of the auction. Since everybody that visits the auction page will likely see your domain, I think that is well worth the $39 fee!

The domain names will also appear if you have a domain name that is coming up for a Great Domains auction. "Scheduled" is the reason you are seeing those. Again, another idea to purchase Featured Domain (Showcase) if you submitted your domain name for a Great Domains auction and it is accepted. Spending an extra $39 to help your domain name sell just may be worth it because it will be featured at the top and can help your domain stand out and not get lost in the crowd!

Keep in mind, you must do this BEFORE the domain name goes to auction.

My Sedo / My Domains .. then put a check mark next to the domain name you wish to purchase Featured Domain (Showcase) or submit for Top Domains. Then scroll down to the red Execute button and select from the drop down box to the left of it and click Execute and follow the steps in place.

I wouldn’t purchase the "featured" option unless I was aware of a bid coming in or if I submitted a domain and it was accepted for a Great Domains auction. Submitting for a Top Domain is worth it at anytime, because it is free!
