It’s been a very long day… I have been having nothing but computer problems lately and if I wasn’t so cheap, I would just build a new system. This thing does make me all my money….

Last week I upgraded and maxed out my memory for my Sony Vaio computer and now have 1G (from 512). This week continued with a slow computer, so it was time to do some digging. My 80G hard drive was nearly STACKED, so that was clearly an issue. I borrowed my neighbors extra 80G hard drive he had laying around and moved over all my music files (43G total) to the slave drive which helped Big Time!

I know… 43G of music is a TON, but I love music and iTunes loves me. lol

So I ordered up a 320G hard drive from NewEgg.com which should be here next week. I also had ordered a new Brothers Laser Jet Printer and have been waiting to get that hooked up to my wireless network.. I figured with the downtime today, would be a good time to add it. What a pain in the ass that was. I hard wire my main PC and tried and tried using it to get the printer set up. After a couple hours of no luck and a lot of reading, I gave it a shot using my laptop. 10 minutes later, I was printing my first Laser Jet copies. Just an fyi if you are hooking up a wireless printer, use a laptop that is wirelessly connected to your network, you will be done in a breeze. Lesson learned, but it did not say any place in the directions that my computer had to be wireless…

Well, a day lossed in domaining so I will have to catch back up tomorrow. I still want to back up this PC, so I think I will pick up a bigger external hard drive and copy/move all the files over to that and install the new hard drive when that comes along but I will save that for a weekend.

IDGO.com was the domain I sold. $3,800 USD btw, as reported on DnJournal.com .

Sometimes you have to Spend money to Make money. Now most advertising is very expensive but their are also times where you can get great results for your money.

Here is my Number 1 pick for the Best Bang for your Buck!

DnJournal.com 60 day listing for just $19.95 in the classified section.

Many other banner spots are available on the site and you will have to contact Ron if interested, but here are some of those rates http://www.dnjournal.com/adrates.htm . I think DnJournal is a great place to advertise because more then just domainers use it. The site is often referred to end users to reference domain sale prices and Ron is often in articles on Forbes, Wall Street Journal etc.

Ron also has NameNewbie.com with offer even better rates, so that is worth checking out as well. http://www.namenewbie.com/Display_Ad_Rates.html

Make your ad POP so you can stand out from the rest.

My second choice and this comes with thinking outside the box…. Yesterday a video was released about the domain industry that grabbed a great deal of attention. The second you see these videos come out, contact the creaters and try and get an ad placed when the video starts and ends (they can edit the video to place in your ads). These videos get Huge Exposure and mainly never carry any ads on them. You can also get your foot in the door for the "next vid" they decide to do as well. wwwTheWebsiteIsDown.com was the last video released and it’s a GEM. That video has been diggs in the 3K range and I’m sure has been viewed a million + times!

~It seems the newest fad is Newsletters! I was already signed up for RickLatona.com and DnCartoons.com which offer domain names for sale . I signed up for DnJournal.com’s the other day as Ron always has good things to say and is very informative. Afternic.com sends one out monthly and two new ones started showing up yesterday as well. Domaining.com is now sending newsletters via email as well as DnForum.com . I expect to see many other’s to start popping up, but I do not think I will be offering one anytime soon as I really do not like being a follower.

~In Afternic’s newsletter that came out yesterday, they provided A Guide to Domain Investing. Well worth the read and something any Domain Newbie should read. I found #6 kind of "interesting", which states: "Use a domain registrar you trust! We recommend our trusted partner Register.com". Hmmm If they are partners with Register.com, it’s kind of funny that Register.com sends their expired domains to SnapNames.com (a competitor).

~Here are a couple domains that I purchased lately. SunsetValley(.)net which is a Geo domain. Sunset Valley is located in Texas. LasikLawyers(.)com I like the keywords. OnlineStats(.)com People love stats, so this is a Great Generic which can be used for any kind of stats really. Sports, website, affiliate, sales etc. Irrigators(.)com Sweet Generic! Can be used for agriculture or dental products. A couple 4 letter .net domains, MDYY.net (month date year) and IQAH.net (VCVC).

~Still waiting for GrandNames.com to open. Owen has stated a couple times that the site should be ready to go soon. I would much rather see the site open up and be Finished, unlike many sites that launch that are a work in progress. Work in progress is fine, but when the site mainly doesn’t work, many problems or is nearly totally changed is not good.

~I tested out the "new design" that NameBio.com should be launching shortly. I think NameBio users will really like the new design and the new features Justin is offering. Several new Web 2.0 features, slide bars and a new look.

~I will have a domain on DnJournal.com sales report this week. It should be listed tonight since the normal report is delayed one day due to the Labor Day holiday.

If you have any questions, again feel free to use the contact link on the top of the page.
