In an article on Yahoo! Tech states that Fox News is behind when it comes to online visitors compared to CNN and MSNBC. So Fox has launched FoxNation.com to try and help improve this.
Fox has been the clear leader when it comes to TV and it’s prime-time viewers. In the article, there are some very interesting stats if you ask me!
The article states:
Fox News Channel has dominated its cable competitors, MSNBC and CNN, in the cable TV ratings. According to Nielsen Media Research, Fox has averaged 2.73 million prime-time viewers this month, through March 25. MSNBC trailed with 1.16 million and CNN had 1.14 million.
But Fox, which is owned by News Corp., has trailed significantly on the Web. FoxNews.com drew 16 million unique visitors in February, while MSNBC.com was visited by 41 million and CNN.com was visited by 36 million.
Why are those interesting to me? For one, that is a crap load of unique online visitors Per Month to each of the sites! Secondly, look at how many more people visit Online compared to watching on TV.
- Fox News Channel 2.73 Million Prime-Time Viewers TV. 16 Million Online
- MSNBC TV 1.16 Million. 41 Million Online.
- CNN TV 1.14 Million. 36 Million Online.
Now I’m sure those are just the Prime-Time viewers numbers, but add in the "other hours" and that still wouldn’t match up the numbers if you ask me. Clearly more people are online viewers!
I tried to visit FoxNation.com this morning and I got a Page Load Error! That’s not helping out gaining new viewers online if you ask me! Server problems are never a fun way to launch a new site, so maybe they should of considered this rush of traffic before launching.
Another thing helping CNN online, is the iReport.com domain they purchased for $750K. Fox promotes "uReport" but doesn’t own the domain uReport.com .

I can’t believe that 41 million people visit MSNBC in a month. I thought that no one got news from them anymore.
