I get offers daily on domain names. Most of them are low, but I think it’s from Uneducated Buyers! If you have a feeling that you are getting an offer from an uneducated buyer, try this for an email reply. This has helped me many times in getting a higher offer.

"Hello NAME,

Thank you for your interest in DomainName.com but your current offer is much lower then offers I have turned down in the past.

Domain names are very valuable assets for many different reasons. The biggest one, is there can only be one of it’s kind!

To have a better idea of some recent reported domain name sales, please check out http://dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm which are last weeks reported domain name sales, or you can also check out the archived sales http://dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales-archive.htm and readjust your offer if you see fitting.

Thank you again for your interest and if you have any further questions, please let me know and I will try my best to assist you.

Regards,
Your Name"

Let me know if you use this template and if it helps you out at all.

    Great letter-template!

For people that send me low ball answers, I just don’t bother replying. Sometimes if they send $100-$200 offers, I’ll counter… but those with $20-$30 offers… yeah right!

Sammy, you might be careful passing those up… I had an $xx offer this week, which lead into an $x,xxx offer after a couple emails. If you are getting the email, you know the person has interest, now you become the salesman and work with what you can.

The way I look at it, if you get an offer and you think it’s a low ball, counter anyway, with a price you would sell for. It doesn’t hurt. ;)

    I totally agree with Jamie.

Don’t ignore low-ball offers. Not all the buyers using the same techniques. 5 minutes reply not a big waste of time :)
