Sedo.com has sold the domain name Girokonto.org which translates to "Current Account" from German to English sold for $15,700 EUR. At today’s conversion rate, translates to $21,537 USD. Girokonto.org currently ranks # 3 on Google.com for the matching search term girokonto. The domain name was first registered in 2003 and all major TLD’s are registered.

Girokonto.org was a parked domain name, but likely ranking that high for the search term, was not always the case. Looking at Archive.org proves me wrong, but I do not believe everything on Archive.org all the time either. It is pretty rare to see a parked page rank that high when search returns are higher (2.8 Million). For me, I expect the reason for the higher price besides the keyword, helped due to the SERP (search engine rank placement)! The domain has an Alexa rank of 3.9 Million in the US but holds a 238K ranking in Germany! So the domain is getting some traffic.

The whois data has yet to update with the new owner at time of writing.

HeavyHands.com also traded on Sedo.com for $15,250 USD. HeavyHands.com was first created in 1998 and was purchased by Gachupin Enterprises of New Mexico. The seller was Church Street Boxing Gym according to whois history records. HeavyHands.com now forwards to a product called Heavy Hands Knockout Wear and it’s domain name HeavyHandsKoWear.com . Clearly this is a great improvement for there domain name and will make marketing much easier!

HeavyHandsKoWear.com already ranks # 4 on Google for the search term, heavy hands but search traffic is only one form of traffic. Not only will they likely improve there search engine ranking for the exact match search term (heavy hands) if they put the domain to use other than a forward, it also looks more professional placing HeavyHands.com on there Heavy Hands product line.

This was likely a case where Heavy Hands Knockout Wear really felt they needed the domain (they did IMO) and Paid Up for it! Church Street Boxing Gym felt the cash was more important then the HeavyHands.com domain to them and now use NyBoxingGym.com, which still makes sense with what they offer and do!

This was a very smart purchase for the Heavy Hands Knockout Wear brand IMO and well worth the $15K they spent in the process! The domain will likely pay for itself in a short period of time if used correctly. (branding, flagship domain)

Joyus.com also traded on Sedo.com for $7,250 USD. Joyus.com was first registered in 2000 and appears to have been parked with Above.com at time of being sold. The domain was in whois privacy before the sale but the new owners appear to be a branding and consultants for product names firm called Kerrico. Kerrico Names Incorporated. This is the first time I heard of KNI but they likely had a customer behind the purchase.

Joyous would be the proper spelling so we will see how this domain may be used or who was behind the purchase, but clearly there is a good deal of risk with Typo’s if not marketed correctly.
