Godaddy.com the worlds largest domain name registrar, website builder and basically anything relating to websites and getting your business online has had it’s hand in smaller rolls as a sponsor for NASCAR and drivers Dale Earnhardt JR. #5 Nationwide, Ron Fellows #5 Nationwide (first Godaddy win), Mark Martin #5 Sprint Cup for 2010. Brad Keslowski #88 machine in the Nationwide Series in 2009 and the #25 in the Sprint Cup Series Godaddy was the primary sponsor in 2009. Godaddy was also in the IndyCar series with Godaddy Girl Danica Patrick’s #7 machine as an associate sponsor.

Godaddy.com will be the Primary Sponsor on 3 rides in the 2010 season and all are big name drivers and big name teams!

The latest breaking news announced today is Danica Patrick will be driving a #7 Godaddy.com sponsored car in the NASCAR Nationwide Series! Since Danica is a full time IndyCar driver, this is news that has been floating around about her wanting to give the very popular NASCAR series a try but now has become official. Danica will drive the #7 Nationwide Series machine out of the JR Motorsports / Hendrick Motorsports stable. I wasn’t overly surprised to see Godaddy.com as the primary sponsor for her in NASCAR, but it is never a given who will fork over the bucks and do it. Godaddy.com has and likely beat out several other top companies that would be the primary sponsor on the #7 Nationwide car! It has not been announced yet how many races in the Nationwide Series Danica will run and she will likely run several ARCA races as well.

It was also announced not that long ago that Godaddy.com will be the primary sponsor of Danica Patrick’s main ride, her #7 IndyCar for the 2010 season! Godaddy was a smaller associate sponsor in years past with Danica. Danica is also a GoDaddy Girl and has appeared in countless GoDaddy TV commercials.

The third car will be Mark Martin in the #5 Hendrick Motorsports Godaddy.com sponsored machine in the biggest racing league around, the NASCAR Sprint Cup series. Mark Martin is a very popular driver and finished 2nd in the points standings for 2009 behind 4 time (in a row) champ Jimmie Johnson and started of the 2010 season with the pole at the Daytona 500.

Cars are not the only thing Godaddy.com sponsors either. They have sponsored races, race tracks, TV spots, rodeo, motorcycles, golf, poker and a country singer Erin Kalin to name a few.

Godaddy.com has clearly been the largest supporter of bringing domain names to the mainstream and getting people to know and hear words like Registrar and Domain Names! It all started when Godaddy ran their first Super Bowl commercial in 2005. Godaddy has done a lot for domain name investors (even though many do not look at it that way) and Godaddy provides a lot of services and products that get more people interested in and on the internet. Partnerships with NameMedia also allow domain names to be easily listed on Godaddy’s platform using Afternic.com’s expanded promotion service (which I clearly think is a wise idea to use it) when these people come looking for a domain name. Clearly you can list domain names for sale directly on Godaddy.com as well.

With even heavier promoting in 2010 with the primary sponsorship of the #5 cup series car of Mark Martin and the primary sponsorship of the #7 IndyCar ride of Danica Patrick, the #7 ride in the Nationwide Series and the other events… this is good news for domain investors and clearly Godaddy! Danica has been the bright spot in marketing the IRL over the last few years and I’m happy they have her for two more years. She will bring a whole bunch of attention to Nascar when they need it and hopefully some of that spotlight will shine on the IRL.
