Progressive® Insurance has rolled out a new ad campaign and is looking for somebody to Help Flo at Progressive. They are doing so by asking people to visit HelpFlo.com and submit a video on the site with why you would be great helping Flo.
HelpFlo.com is a nice clean site that users submit there video per contest rules via YouTube and then the video is shown on HelpFlo.com . 3 finalist will be picked and the winner of the contest wins a chance at appearing in an advertisement with Flo for Progressive.
Not fond of video and would rather do it in person? Progressive is even hosting some Live Events which you can checkout there. New York, Miami and LA are the locations up but they already are past the New York dates.
Progressive really picked The Perfect domain name for this campaign because it simply makes sense with the message! Short and to the point!
Many companies seem to find it hard to go away from there brand names and often stick the brand name in the domain name as well. This is not always needed and Progressive did a great job including Flo, the person used in there ads. Flo has become pretty popular and she is already attached to the brand Progressive. I have even seen some people with costumes created for her character.
HelpFlo.com is a stand alone site, which is another thing that many companies fail to do. Many domains used in ad’s are often simply used as 301 redirects to the companies flagship domain name. This is OK to do, but can hurt the company for search engine users looking for the site. Having a stand alone site, search engines key those keywords much better and are more likely to give the site a higher ranking!
Progressive registered HelpFlo.com in early October of 2009 according to whois records. The site is also connected with Facebook and Twitter covering the ever so popular social networking scenes as well. A "new" account is not connected for the specific campaign so both social networking accounts on HelpFlo.com are for Progressive’s main accounts…. but there is a specific Help Flo page on Facebook for sure that has pictures and images from the live events that have taken place already.
Help Flo.com ranks #1 on Google for the matching search term Help Flo, which is clearly wise and helpful. The ranking is in part of the use of the stand alone site and the exact match domain used, as well as the keywords within the site. The title tags and meta tags are a little weak and could be stronger but they do hold some important keywords in them.
Great job Progressive on this ad campaign, the domain used, connection with social media, video connection with YouTube and the site itself!
