Here is a little tip for Windows® users that I use often but many people may simply not be aware of the tool.

Have you even went to a search engine and are looking for some specific keyword and you see it in a sites meta description but upon arriving on the site, you can not find what you are looking for?

I have this problem a lot researching stories for DotWeekly or looking for a specific domain name but upon arriving on a site there is a list of 50,000 domains.

Tip

Ctrl+F

When you are on the specific web page. A little bar will pop-up with a search box. Simply enter the specific term you had seen in the meta description (likely your keyword you used on the search engine) and using the Find tool will highlight your searched term on the specific page you are on.

From time to time, websites can use keywords in a meta description that are really not on the actual page, so the tool isn’t perfect but I know it saves me a bunch of time 9 times out of 10.

Example:

Let’s say you were searching for a specific domain name that sold and was reported on DnJournal.com . Doing a search on Google like this

CDZ.com Domain Search

will likely lead you to the proper page on Ron’s site, but A LOT of domain names may be listed on that specific page and you may not find exactly what you were looking for just in the meta description. Once clicking on the listing title in the search engine and arriving on DnJournal.com, simply press Ctrl+F (ctrl button and f key at the same time) . Enter the specific domain name you were looking for and BOOM. Instant time savings as the tool simply finds what you were looking for right on the page!

Ctrl+F Search Feature for Windows

Talk about easy! The Ctrl+F features highlights the matching term and slides to its location on the page all at the same time. It even gives you the option to move to the next find if the first one wasn’t exactly what you were looking for. The Ctrl+F feature works the same way in Excel, which I often use with domain names also to easily find a specific one.

If you were not aware of the Ctrl+F feature and have a hard time finding exactly what you were looking for on a specific web page, give it a try and see if it helps you out.

This reminded me of a very simple, but useful tool I only found a few weeks ago:

    http://www.mlin.net/Clipomatic.shtml

“Clipomatic is a clipboard cache program. It remembers what was copied to the clipboard and allows you to retrieve it, even after you’ve copied something else to the clipboard. Clipomatic only works with text. It works on any modern version of Windows.”

Another way is to hit the “Cached” link on that search result. It will highlight the keywords you searched for.

  3. From the title I thought it was about using google keywords tool to find relevant keywords for a domain… But this turned out something different… Thanks for the tip..
