Oh, you are going to LOVE this tool if you use the Google AdWords Keyword Tool, Keyword Spy, Wordtracker, Trellian or SEMRush.com and purchase domain names! It doesn’t get any better than this and it actually works!

So what is it?

A FireFox plugin that works in-line with the above mentioned popular keyword tools.

What does it do?

It tells you if the keyword / phrase is available to register in the .com, .net and .org domain name extensions.

Since the above mentioned services like GAKT, Keyword Spy and so on provide a lot of metrics that are important to domain name investors, it would save a lot of time "IF" you didn’t have to copy a term and go to a domain name registrar to check which term is available or registered as a domain name. What if that was in-line with the data already? Huge time saver and also a new way to discover!

Check this baby out!

Instantly check domain availablity directly in the google adwords keyword tool

See those little blue and red .com | .net | .org next to the keywords displayed in the above screen shot from GAKT using the term Green Bay, that is what Domain Espionage does! You are seeing available domain names, with search metrics, for FREE on a near instant basis! Search as much as you want and Domain Espionage keeps on displaying if the terms are available as domain names.

Pretty sweet, right! Did I tell you that Domain Espionage is FREE? Yep!

Domain Espionage works with the following sites currently:

Google AdWords Keyword Tool (GAKT)

KeywordSpy.com

Wordtracker.com

SEMRush.com

Trellian.com (you need to sign up for free trial to use this one, so I didn’t test this one.

Free download of the FireFox plugin is here, which is on DomainEspionage.com/firefox.html

Domain Espionage uses Zone Files to see if a domain name is available and this is done for speed reasons. Since zone files are only updated once in a 24 hour period, there may be times when the tool states a domain name is available and it may not be. When I tested the tool, all the domains I checked that showed they were available, were. I just wanted you to know that you may run into a situation where it states a domain is available but it is not. More times than not, the data is correct.

Let me know what you think of the tool. It is not mine and I do not have any affiliation with the owner Jeremy but I wanted to share the tool with you because it works and is a time saver!

    This is indeed a great tool. Couldn’t ask for anything better.

    Now if they can just add in a column that tells you how many competing listings there are in the SERPS for the keyword it would be perfect.

    It won’t let me access the free download tab. Maybe because I don’t have firefox installed?

    @Gary,
    That is likely the reason.

    Jamie

    Nice plugin but too many false available names. I tried for few keywords and found that domains not available eventhough plugin was saying that domain name is available.

    Thanks

    @Sukh,
    The tool isn’t perfect but it works more times than not. All the domains that I checked were available when I checked and I haven’t seen one yet that wasn’t when it said it was. It would be helpful I’m sure to the owner of the plugin if you can provide an example so he can look into.

    Very nice.

    You always seem to find the nuts before the other squirrels Jamie.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Jamie,
    Great plugin. It worked with a lot of names (It didn’t work with SanFernando.org)

    Thanks

    @Juan,
    That makes sense that SanFernando.org showed as available, because there is no DNS record for the domain. Since the tool used Zone Files, if no DNS is recorded in the zone, then it shows that the domain is available. If you do a whois look up for the domain, it will also show no records for the DNS http://whois.domaintools.com/sanfernando.org . They use zone files to check availability because of Speed. If a whois look up was used, the tool would be extremely slow.

    Would like to see more extensions such as .us and .info. There was a similar plugin for the last adwords tool that was simply the best but doesn’t work with the new one.

    Hey everyone this is Jeremy from Domain Espionage.

    I really appreciate the review Jamie and the feedback from everyone else’s comments.

    Just wanted to respond to a few things people have mentioned.

    1) We’re working on a way to improve the accuracy of availability reporting. Obviously zone files are fast but not 100% accurate.

    But since Google’s Keyword tool returns at least 100 results (sometimes more) live checking 300 domains every time someone looks up a keyword would get the plugin banned in about 5 minutes doing live lookups (not to mention .org lookups that allow only 4 lookups per minute per ip addres…which is nuts!)

    That said I am working to improve accuracy and have a couple solutions to test.

    2) We can easily include more extensions (info, biz, us) if people are interested. But I wasn’t sure so I didn’t include them.

    (Full disclosure, I’m not a domainer my background is PPC affiliate marketing but my main business now is creating software tools for online marketers so if there are features and functionality that would be helpful I’m all ears.)

    Thanks again for the great response!

    @Jeremy,
    Thanks for stopping by and addressing some users concerns. It’s a great tool and nothing is perfect, so some small issues are expected. The majority of registered domains contain a DNS so I wouldn’t expect the false results being that high.

    Jamie, no problem and thanks again.

    One final thing I forgot in my last comment.

    You do not need to have an account to use the Keyword Discovery integration.

    The extension works with their free keyword suggestion tool here
    http://www.keyworddiscovery.com/search.html

    You have to solve the captcha to get the suggestions but no need to sign up for anything.

    Doesn’t work with trellian.com, it works with keywordspy.com tho.

    @Carlos

    I just tested it with the Keyword Discovery (which is devloped by trellian)free tool and it worked fine.

    I’ll stop commenting now so I don’t turn Jamie’s blog post into a support thread :-)

    Any idea on when it will work with FireFox 7.0.1?
    I have emailed them a few times and have yet to get a response.
    Thanks
