Here is an interesting domain name and almost looks like what domainers would consider a "Domain Hack". At least it looks like a hack at first glance but then you would need to check your spelling. Investme.net is currently on auction at Sedo.com with a $4,200 EUR bid and some may look at it as Investment  but that would be a typo. Invest Me is the other way to look at it but that doesn’t really make any sense in the English language. The seller states Invest Me means "Invest To Me" .

Again, if you look at it quick, it sure looked like a hack to me.

InvestMe.net Domain Name

In fairness to the domain name owner (and bidder really), the domain very well could mean "Invest To Me" but that still doesn’t make sense in English and it also could make somebody that "see’s" the domain to get confused.

A little more about domain name hacks:

With the launch of the .ME TLD, there are a lot of "hacks" to go with the domain but those mainly come in the form of a "saying" like Call.me or Join.me .

Some people even go the length of including a sub-domain + domain to make a hacked domain term.

For an example (the vast majority of these domain combination are registered btw) if you take the term Real Estate. Then take that term and leave a couple letters off of the start and somebody may register the domain alestate.com . Seeing alestate.com may make you scratch your head and think to yourself, that doesn’t mean anything that I am aware of… but if you saw the domain with a sub-domain, you would see the term better. By adding RE as a sub-domain, the domain actually becomes re.alestate.com .

Domain Hacks can be used as a "catch of the eye", almost like a magic trick. Some that always make me do a double take when using a search engine are domains that most wouldn’t consider a hack but the whole domain is www-domain.com . Including in the www. would really make the domain stand out that it is a double www but search engines do not always include www. with indexed pages. Since some domains do include www. on SE’s, when you see a listing as www-ebay.com you may think the hyphen is simply the space created by the . . Like I said, it makes you do a double take from time to time.

The majority of the time, the  "hack" is meant to create a valuable keyword term. re.alestate.com to form RealEstate.com . I see this work from time to time but not nearly as well as a sub-domain that is a full keyword.

Del.icio.us is likely one of the most famous domain name hacks but they even converted to the "real deal", Delicious.com!

    @emajed,
    This is coped directly from the description: investme.net , means invest to me!

    Not sure what they are trying to get across but with the remaining description, I think it is clear that English is not the common language they speak.

    Personally, I’d read this name as a hack that says: ‘Investment’.

    I love (good) hacks, like Ma.am, or fa.me…Very brandable.

    …Even better when its a top keyword + a catchy hack phrase, like Kiss.me, Call.me, or Phone.me.
