I had wrote about this the other day, so if you didn’t see my post on it, you might want to read that first to catch up. Here is the post.
So I went back and noticed that the auction has been finalized at NameJet.com . The auction ended for $3,000 USD and now shows a new owner, which matches the winning bidder at NameJet.
Now this is not my first day domaining, so I know what these domains should look like (whois wise) and this one did not look correct from the start. First, the DNS showed DNS15.REGISTER.COM & DNS16.REGISTER.COM dating all the way back to 2002. In 2005, the domain went from Register.com TO NameSecure.com. The domain stayed with the registrar, NameSecure from 2005 until 3-13-2008 which by whois records shows 3-11-2008 the domain was still with NameSecure.com, but on 3-13-2008 was transfered into the registrar NetworkSolutions.com . That’s the part when it starts getting Fishy!
We all know when you transfer a domain, the domain get’s renewed for one year. Secondly we all know that you can NOT transfer an Expired domain. So via whois history, dated 3-11-2008 o0o.com shows the expiration date of 2-05-2008. On whois history date of 3-13-2008 (36 days After expired) the domain Now shows it registered with NetworkSolutions.com, The expire date is 2-5-2009 and DNS are changed to NS1.PENDINGRENEWALDELETION.COM . These name servers mean that the domain will be at NameJet and this domain would be a Pre-Release because it’s Expired. This is not making sense… Transfered from one registrar to another, but still considered expired? It is also important to note, when I checked whois for o0o.com on 3-14-2008 the expire date was 2-5-2010, the domain was still at auction at NameJet, with the same NetSol dns. Was it renewed twice?
First of all, NO pre-release domains at NameJet are renewed for 2 years.
Secondly, you can NOT transfer a domain that is Expired. It may have been renewed and transfered to NetSol, but then it wouldn’t be an expired domain?
If the domain was Renewed, and transfered TO NetworkSolutions.com on 3-13-2008 (same day the auction started), and NameSecure.com and NetSol are partnered in some way (not sure if they are or not) why are they pushing domains around from one registrar to the next before they go to auction?
Another note, 3-11-2008 (whois history) the domain still showed it’s expired date of 2-5-2008, then 2 days later, it’s transfered to Network Solutions? Last time I checked, it took 5 Days to transfer a domain from one registrar to another?
This whole thing is pretty fishy to me. I can understand it being transfed, but Why? The winner of the auction could just get the domain at NameSecure.com right? Why transfer to NetSol the day of the auction?

All domains are NOT really expired. I was told sometime ago that networksolutions will “represent” someone to sell a domain. xxvideos.com, look at the whois.

That was at Namejet.com and went to public auction then no one paid for it. Though it didn’t go to a 2nd public auction.
Everyone knows/thinks that domains NOT sold by NetworkSolutions or Register.com is really just a advanced afternic.com type of sale.
Since it is a fact that ALL enom.com, namesecure.com are domains that are PICKED over. If the domain stayed at namesecure.com then everyone would of devalued the domain. Since it was (looked like) a NSI domain it was “more valuable” in this case NOT.
Picked over means, if this domain really made money it wouldn’t be at NAMEJET.com, since it would be in our portfolio make US money.
So be glad you didn’t buy it.
Bonkers

Thank you for the indepth take on the domain/situation. I wasn’t going to bid on it, I just picked up the late DNS change and wanted to point out the “fishy” situation. I didn’t know they represent sellers…. I would like to see some confirmation on it, as I know registrar “keep” domains, but didn’t know NetSol/NameJet represented.
