I think I offer a great deal of help on DotWeekly.com about domain names, the internet, SEO, Web Development and just personal help when somebody needs it. I enjoy doing this! I really do enjoy it and I want to kick it up a notch and it was all inspired by a domain name.

So how can you join in the fight to make this happen? I need your help because I can not do it all.

First, I would like to have a section where people can brainstorm ideas (comment section).

Secondly, I am looking for DO’ers. Talk is nice, but Action is really what we need.

So what is the idea? It’s about helping and allowing a very wide spread task that happens all the time, but really with no centeral meeting place. No "one place to go" to for both sides to get the info somebody needs to help. No request to small or to big.

Disasters happen nearly on a daily basis in the United States. People need help and a lot are willing to help if they knew the what’s or where’s. My goal is to make a central location with info on the "What’s" and "Where’s"

Donate Supplies

  • People loose there homes in fires and are left with Nothing.
  • Tornado’s destroy towns and a lot of people need just the basics
  • People go hungry
  • Pet’s go hungry
  • Soldiers need things
  • Children have no toys
  • Families need just the little things to make it by
  • And the list can go on and on…

So my "General Idea" is to create a website that will allow those who Need Things and the People Willing to donate supplies a centralized location to do so and for those who need them, can find where to go.

I think for starters, start with the US, all 50 states and have detailed info for where to donate (red cross, boys and girls etc., locations, what is needed (real time) updated by the places accepting the donations, Chat (forum) by state/city.

For those who need the supplies, simply an easy way to find the area they are in and get what they need where they live!

What kind of help am I looking for?

  • Web Developer
  • Web Designer
  • Logo Designer
  • Information Gathering Team
  • People to help promote
  • Content Writers
  • Fact Checkers (approving donation area’s)

And any body or service that is willing to help make this happen. Please use the comment section right here on DotWeekly with any of your thoughts, what you would be willing to donate and or just your idea’s on this idea.

I thank you for your consideration and hope you consider providing if you can.

I am not too crazy about this types of ideas.

Stay away from this stuff, Jamie.

Let the real organizations and charities handle it.

It is their job after all.

Rick Schwartz and a few others, including myself, tried to help and even setup a fund and of course rallied domainers to contribute a few years back during the Katrina fiasco…

What happened? Simply google “airkatrina” to find out

Feds got involved… People got locked up.

I contribute to local organizations where I live and I encourage others to do the same. They often need all the help they can get, right on the ground.

    Cheers!

    Mike

All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.

I can help in the areas of promotion and content. However I would agree with wannadevelop, the best way to help is local. I beleive the local community the most right on our help. In case of a national or international, like Katrina or earthquakes, ofcourse send the donations.

Take care of your own household first which in this case will mean your “local community” because he who neglects his own household is worst than an unbeliever (adapted from (1 Tim 5:8)the Bible)

Thank you all for your input and I think I may just put this idea on the back burner. Maybe I’ll just donate DonateSupplies.com to a local Red Cross or something along those lines.. and donate some of my time to a couple charities.
