The internet is built around keywords, so it’s vital that you use keywords that target the customers you want to end up at your website, best matching what they are looking for! The things that people type at search engines, are keywords. The words in your domain name, are keywords. The title you use on a page or posting on your website, are keywords. The content you provide, are keywords. Leaving out vital keywords is a huge mistake because it makes your site all that harder to find, if at all.
Just developing a website and letting it sit is not going to work. "Not having time to update" or add new things to your site is a huge mistake! A properly built website that is updated with content that focuses on your products and or services is extremely important and the more you do it, the better.
Over the past couple of years I have reached out and assisted several companies start off in the proper direction with a domain name that works for them, assisted in explaining the importance of keywords in titles used, content and providing what the customer will be looking for. After the site is up and bringing in targeted traffic, they are happy but it becomes short lived due to lack of updating the website as I requested and putting the focus on the products and services offered.
