I had wrote about the new process of listing domain names on SnapNames.com but wanted to revisit it now that I have used the service.

Holy Smokes it’s EASY!

As long as you have your domain name registered with Moniker.com and you have linked your SnapNames.com account to your Moniker.com account, it really only takes Seconds to list a domain!

Since I had listed domains on SnapNames using the old process, my two accounts were "linked" already but I assume it is very easy to link the two.

Once in my Moniker account (My Domains), I simply put a checkmark next to the domains I wanted to offer for sale on SnapNames and clicked the List Now On SnapNames by the DNS UrlFwd tabs.

You then enter in your price, select either Buy It Now or Auction. Then select the start date and end date and hit Submit! That’s It!

It will take about 24 hours for your domain name to appear on SnapNames. Once it does appear use this link to send people directly to it’s listing page: http://www.snapnames.com/advancedSearch.do?searchTerm=YourDomain.com Simply change and put your domain name and TLD at the end!

Promoting your domain yourself will also increase the chance of it selling! You can also use the above tip and Forward (domain forwarding at your registrar) your domain to the listing page. That way, anybody that visits your domain will land on it’s for sale page and know it’s for sale!

Here are some Key Service Functions according to SnapNames, aka Moniker aka Oversee.net

. Sellers can choose the best listing format for the domain’s quality and price (auction or fixed price "Buy It Now" listings).
. Domains will be transferred from seller to buyer automatically on the day of the transaction.
. No work is required for sellers to complete a sale; funds are automatically collected, domains transferred and ownership verified by Moniker.
. Proceeds from the sale are available to sellers within seven days (in most cases).
SnapNames will also extend visibility of sellers’ names into other distribution networks in the coming months as well as offer bulk upload listing tools.

In my opnion, that’s a huge impediment. What if I don’t wish to incur the expense and hassle of transfering my domain to Moniker on the off chance that I might sell it.

If I don’t sell the domain, then I’m stuck at Moinker for at least 60 days.

To me, “easy” means being able to stay at my current registrar.

For security reasons I can see why the domains would need to be with Moniker. Since I rank Moniker in my Top 2 registrars, I have no problem having my domains with Moniker. I can see it would be nice if you could list domains from other registrars, but SnapNames and Moniker happen to be owned by the same company and it makes business sense as well.

I just wasted a lot of time trying to “figure” out how to list a domain on Moniker/Snap. The website is not clearly laid out…a lot of going back and forth…and then to find out that I would have to transfer my domains, no thanks. Why would I want to change my register?

Glad Sedo doesn’t require that. Are there any other places like Sedo? Some of these places out there are a joke…wastes a lot of time.

    @Diane,
You can also try Afternic.com but a $19.95 year fee is required to list domains. Latonas.com, Auctionpus.com, eBay.com and GoDaddy.com are some other options
