The domain name Logo.com has sold for $500,000 at the domain name aftermarket service Sedo.com
The domain name was first registered in May of 1995 and was previously owed by a Marcus Kocak according to whois records. The new owner has not been updated in whois records at time of posting.
The $500,000 sale of Logo.com ties it for the 10th highest reported domain name sale so far in 2010 based on the YTD chart at DnJournal.com, tied with IPO.com, which also sold recently at Sedo.
According to whois records, the domain name appears to have changed ownership several times in 2009, with the current seller purchasing the domain name on September 12, 2009. At that time the domain name was parked using SedoParking.com and has been until the $500K sale.
Sedo holds 5 of the top 10 spots for highest reported domain name sales of 2010, with Moniker/Snapnames holding 4 and 1 private sale round out the top 10.
8 of the top 10 reported sales so far in 2010 are .com’s. Poker.org @ $1 Million comes in at #5 and Credit.fr $851.875 are also in the mix.
Interestingly enough, the plural version of the domain name, Logos.com has nothing to do with graphics as the site is a Bible Software. Will Logo.com become what many think of when the term is heard? It could be but keep in mind that 4 letter domain names often get used as an acronym as well.
Either way, great domain name and nice sale!

I think it would be the gay cable network of the same name owned by Viacom now http://www.logotv.com/
But it could be HP who has bought a business unit dedicated to making cheap logos and has a big ad push all over TV
I can’t find the article but Logot TV breaks a lot of cable records when they bring politicians in for town halls

Wow, that’s a lot of $99 logos to cover the $500,000 expense
