Starting a brand is important for any company / website. It becomes the "name" that will be referenced by people to talk about your products or services. Most brands are built away from the "companies name" to better fit what they offer.
Subway® is the brand of Doctor’s Associates Inc. . It would be pretty funny if you ask me to have a sub-sandwhich shop named "Doctor’s Associates Inc." . It just really wouldn’t make sense.
Within a brand name is often a vital keyword that matches the product or service to easily display and give your "new" customers the idea of what you offer but also setting you apart from the rest because of the "name". This brand name is also important to Remain in the customers mind for easy reference and return visits, so it needs to be pretty clear and pretty catchy.
The domain name industry is busy with brands just as other industries but keywords are more vital "online" IMO then on Main Street. This is often the FAIL that many Main Street advertisers miss when venturing online.
So your thinking of starting a domain related business? Need a strong brand name?
eDomains.com
eDomains.com is currently on auction as an expired domain name and it’s a strong brand name for selling domain names or domain related services. Since it’s an expired domain auction, this also means No Reserve. Not only does it hold the vital "Domain" keyword, the "e" has become known for "online" thanks to Microsoft and it’s internet explorer e logo for it’s browser and I like the plural "s" because you will likely be offering more then 1 domain.
This auction is likely to go into the mid four figure range and could hit low 5 figure range ($1x,xxx) depending on who really wants it and how bad! The auction ends on 6-29-2009 at 12:52 PM PT.
Not building a brand? It may be a decent investment if it stays in the $1,xxx-$2,xxx range. Rick Schwartz posted about 10 of his sales today on RicksBlog.com and 2 were "e" related and both sold for $100K each. eCruise.com and eScore.com. Several 5 figure sales as well for "e" domains according to NameBio.com.
eDomains.com would make for a catchy "make sense" brand name for a wide range of domain related products or services.

I’ve been meaning to ask where and how you got setup so that you have your affiliate code in the godaddy auction links. I can’t find how to do that anywhere. Do I need to contact them directly? Thanks… I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on that auction.

Ricks sales put some more context onto the outcome of eHelp.com today at Namejet just north of $42k and the nay-sayers at http://www.thedomains.com/2009/06/23/next-big-money-domain-ehelpcom-at-over-20k-already-at-namejetcom/
‘e’ domains are still hot!
