I have not done a mirco-post in sometime so I thought I would fire one off with some random domain related things that I have on my mind.
~ Ziti.com sold on Afternic.com today for $10,000. Ziti is a pasta noodle but I’m sure has other meanings as well. MostWantedDomains.com was the past owner, with the new buyer being from France. MWD also runs a popular domain blog TheDomains.com by Michael Berkens.
~ I am often amazed at how people / companies buy a domain name and never change DNS after the purchase. I can understand if people do not change DNS after a couple days…. but I have domain names which I sold many YEARS ago that still have not changed DNS. It doesn’t seem that "price" matters either, as higher priced domains often do not have domain name servers changed after changing ownership either.
When this happens, it really makes me scratch my head. The more money paid for the domain, the harder I scratch.
When DNS changes do not happen after a purchase, the only thing that I can think of is there was more of a WANT factor in the domain purchase then a NEED or the buyers are not sure what the heck they are doing.
~ The TRAFFIC domain name conference & expo start next week in New York. The show starts Monday Oct 26 and ends Oct 29. There will be two domain name auctions during the event with RickLatona.com kicking things off on the 27th and Moniker/Snapnames following on the 28th. For details on what will take place, visit TargetedTraffic.com .
I should really attend one of these shows but just never had things work out to make it. I will make it to one sooner or later!
~ Update on the Jacket.com domain I wrote about the other day. The domain name never dropped as I figured. A DotWeekly reader placed an offer on the domain via Sedo and got a reply right away. Since privacy is placed on the domain, I am still not sure who the owner currently is, how the domain reached PendingDelete and was renewed. I will keep an eye on it. The domain is using Google Parking as it’s landing page and may still be owned by the past owners Rainfield Services LTD but their domain does not resolve and the email address used that domain as well (Rainfield.com).
~ I got an offer on SEOBuddy.com for $500 and sent off what I think is a fair counter offer of $1,799 but no reply. I clearly like the domain with it’s branding potential for any SEO tool or service and think my $1,799 price tag is fair. Still nice to get offers even if they all do not turn into sales.
