Name.com has just agreed to offer NameMedia’s domains on Name.com.

Beginning this month, Name.com customers have full access to more than 800,000 business targeted domain names, allowing them to successfully launch and grow their online presence through their existing Name.com relationship.
Name.com joins an expanding list of registrars now offering NameMedia premium domains to their valued customers. Name.com customers are empowered to purchase their domain name through a simple and secure interface in order to obtain instant use of their new domain name.

    Jamie – Actually we’re not sending names through DLS. We’re offering their catalog of aftermarket names on Name.com.

    Our expiring names are still available at Snapnames.

    Perhaps it’s just me, but I’m still confused. What does “We’re offering their catalog of aftermarket names on Name.com” mean? And if names listed on Afternic DLS (like mine) are not going to be listed on Name.com, then why should we care It would seem that someone’s private portfolio is going to be made available on name.com, in which case I’m not sure how that will help any of us domainers. But again, perhaps it’s just me who’s confused.

    DHK – Perhaps it’s helpful to remember that while Name.com is certainly the Domainer’s Friend… we’re still a retail focused registrar. One of our goals is to provide the names our customers want. Now we’re exposing our retail customers to an additional channel of domains that are available for them to purchase.

    For the best possible experience for those customers we’re only offering for sale those names which can be instantly transferred and managed via their Name.com account. I know there are some non BuyDomains/Afternic owned domains which have been purchased and transferred but I’ve not done a full analysis on this.
