Pool pulled a fast one today IMO! Auctions run for 3 days at Pool.com and most other auction services, but since a "nice one" would be ending on a Sunday, Pool.com did all the bidders a "favor" and extended the auction so it ends on a Business Day…

Why didn’t they just say… Man, if Opens.com ends on a Sunday, this domain won’t sell for as much as we want…

I can’t wait until people start bitching when "other" domains end on a weekend and Pool.com doesn’t push the auction back until a "Business Day"!

The message from Pool.com:

As the weekend quickly approaches I wanted to inform you as a participant in the “opens.com” auction at Pool.com that we have extended the closing of the auction by 24 hours such that it will close on a business day (Monday).  We hope this will provide you some added convenience and allow you to spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon with friend and family.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Best regards

Richard Schreier
CEO, Pool.com

P.S. As you know, we have made recent changes in Pool.com’s auction environment including the ability to see the other bidders who have qualified in an auction as well as having changed the fonts to make domain name listings more readable (i.e. discerning the difference between “v” and “w”), I welcome your comments about these recent changes as well.

i thought the same thing when I read it – “We just want to make more money.” I’d rather them just say we’re extending the auction and not try and sugar-coat it by saying they’re doing us a ‘favor’ so we can enjoy more time with our families. That’s B***S***

I couldn’t agree more Mike! Another post will be coming up shortly with the discussions I have been having with Pool.com’s CEO.

    Well, Jamie,

I’m also involved in this auction, and the last I looked, it was almost $3,000–that was earlier today.

It’s a good, solid, but that “s” limits its desirability. (IMO)

It does seem sleazy to extend the auction–and it is all about money.

    Convenience my eye.
