I didn’t know what to title this posting, because it’s going to be a Micro Post, but figured I would change things up a little. Here are some domain related things that I noticed today that I thought may interest you with me explaining a bit more about the specific domains.
~ CandyCompany.com is listed on NameJet.com as a member listed domain. iReit is the owner and today is the last day to place a back order with the current price being $500. This is no Candy.com, but candy company does have about 1,900 exact match monthly searches and Makes Sense!
If you owned a candy company, CandyCompany.com makes sense! It holds the vital keyword CANDY in it. Then use Sub Domains to make the domain name even more keyword powerful with matching content! (now thinking why am I promoting this domain.. lol)
Anyway, using sub domains with a domain like this can greatly help for search engine rank placements and also allows the domain owner to "add" vital keywords to it’s domain. Keep in mind that SE’s scan left to right and things are checked by a computer, not a human!
Example Sub Domain Keywords I would focus on are:
- Bulk.CandyCompany.com
- Online.CandyCompany.com
- Wedding.CandyCompany.com
- Wholesale.CandyCompany.com
The domain owner should use tools that provide for the highest amount and closest to your niche. Google Adwords tool will help you pick the keywords you should be using.
Now your site would still need to offer the product or service of terms used, but you get my point. Using sub domains can help spread off of your main keyword base for SE’s. Now if you owned Candy.com, your sub domains can be endless really. You can use Sub Domains and Categories to make the most out of your keywords.
- Candy.com/gift/baskets
- Christmas.Candy.com/gifts
- Bulk.Candy.com/specials
So if you didn’t get my point yet, I like CandyCompany.com for several reasons and I included several tools that I would use with this specific domain! I can see CandyCompany.com selling for around $2-4K but bidding on NameJet can get a little crazy at times.
and the $3 Million dollar sale of Candy.com may be stuck in some of the bidders head yet.
~What is a niche domain? Chairs.com or Sedie.com (French for Chairs)
is a category defining domain name. In order to have a niche with chairs, your company can focus on a specific "kind" of chair. This can be your niche.
So to say "office chairs" are not always best as a computer chair, making a computer chair a niche market other then the niche "office chairs"!
ComputerChair.com just sold on Sedo.com for $2,700 USD. First, I will say I think this is a very fair deal for the domain! It is a niche market, but several computer chairs sell for more then $2,700 for One Chair!
OK, OK, I take it back.. ComputerChair.com was a STEAL at $2,700! Most will say the plural is "better", but I still like the singular version. Just put your focus online, as it matches the more popular "search term".
Google Adwords tool shows 65,500 Monthly Exact Searches for computer chair, plus 40,500 for the plural. ComputerChair.com and ComputerChairs.com both can and should rank well with full sites build for both terms.
ComputerChair.com is a "better search term" where as ComputerChairs.com is better for building a brand around.
Again, sub domains can and should be used to match the type of computer chair(s) you offer. Example:
- Leather.ComputerChair.com
- Ergoonomic.ComputerChair.com
- Home.ComputerChair.com
- Office.ComputerChair.com
- Contempary.ComputerChair.com
And so on! Using sub domains can lead into an Exact Match of your domain name for a users search! Add in products for sale with well writen content about these specific type of chairs… will greatly help you rank in search engines!
I hope this helps explain a couple things you may not have thought of. One based on a recent sale and one going to auction.
