NamePros.com Live Domain Name auction Thursday

Archived in the category: Domain News

It’s time again for another Live Domain Auction at NamePros.com . NamePros holds Live domain name auctions in it’s chat room about every two weeks or so and it’s nearly time again! Thursday 10-16 at 6 PM EDT. You can visit the auction list here and Pre-bidding is NOW open.

The auction list is growing by the minute but I was not overly happy with what was currently listed. Only a couple domains were listed with "No Reserve" which I think each auction needs a good deal of. So I listed 3 domains with No Reserve!

I listed:

  • DryRoastedPeanuts.com (when Planters Peanuts "Get’s It" you will want to be owning this domain because a nice payday will be coming!)
  • Flopped.net Nice dictionary term domain. Again, No Reserve!
  • TractorBlog.com Blog’s are huge. Lot’s of different tractor’s with some Huge companies that back them. Again, No Reserve!

A couple other nice auctions include the following. These are No Reserve as well:

Lot # 17 ACSF.com & ARSF.com

Lot # 11 with 40, 4 letter .com’s. $295 at posting which is Reg Fee each currently.

Lot # 8 ETGF.com

There are "other" auctions but all others have Sellers Choice or Reserves Prices.

First things that came to my mind while starting my day

Archived in the category: Domain News

Here are some of my thoughts this morning while browsing around and starting off my new week domaining.

At Sedo.com

All-In.com $40,000. "Wow, why not just accept the offer instead of risking the sale and pissing off the buyer"

Fliq.com $10,000. "Fake Bid". Second thought. "Same as above if it’s real". Third thought. "why doesn’t this shit happen to me!"

My Swanton.com transaction say’s "Paid" in my sedo account but I didn’t get payment. I thought "Oh man, another BS thing to deal with Sedo about". Then I checked the "Billing" section and it says "Unpaid". I thought, "How hard is it people, really!"

Email

"Why is somebody contacting me about  a domain name I have never owned" CaptainData.com, Nope never owned it before! Waste somebody elses time…

Forum

Fabulous.com, Lot’s of talk about people leaving Moniker… (Well, people have been doing that for several months now.) and going to Fabulous. Fab has a Great parking service, so I might give them a try as a registrar for a couple domains.

Buying a "Seller’s" domain on TDNAM. Still not a good idea. Member purchased domain and the process to "get" the domain seems like a total pain in the ass. No help from GD. Domain has to be transfered to Godaddy, what a pain! (I wouldn’t suggest doing this)

Stocks

They are going UP! I hope oil keeps going down!

Rick’s Interview with Patrick

Nice thing for Rick to do and it was nice to see a little different side of him (more human). I hate doing them.

Thinking back to yesterday (Sunday)

Still pissed at all the domain names I missed dropcatching… Clearly BuyDomains knows Sunday is a "Business Day" unlike Pool.com! BD used it’s registrar to grab 3 of the domains I was going for… LinkSchool.com, PopularFood.com and Helmes.com (surname). I missed 3 others and only ended up with MagicSealer.com .

"Packers Won!"

"I hope offers start coming back in pretty soon"

Lexus "Get’s It" using a commercial and uses a call to action domain… ActivelySafe.com

Talking to a legend doesn’t happen everyday

Archived in the category: Domain News

I had recently inquired about a domain name that I was interested in and I didn’t research the person’s name on the whois until "after" I sent out the email.

As with many email inquires you do not often get a reply. After I found out WHO I sent the email to, I really didn’t expect a reply. Sure enough, less then 24 hours after I had sent the email the legend replied back!

So who is the legend? Some call him "The other Steve" and he also happens to be the co-founder of a little company called Apple.

So here I am chatting with Steve Wozniak. The man who invented the personal computer Apple I and the Apple II and co-founded Apple Computers with Steve Jobs.

Steve has also had his hand in the first hand held calculator, owned the company to make the universal tv remote control and I’m sure many, many other products many of us use daily.

Steve no longer works "at" Apple, but still is an employee and get’s a check. That I thought was pretty cool, but who wouldn’t. I’m sure he’s worth more then I can think of.. You can read a great deal more about Steve Wozniak at Wikipedia and his personal site Woz.org . If you have time, on the right side of Woz.org is an Audio Interview that will interest other "Geeks".

I have 4 emails that we chatted back and forth that I will keep as a memory but here is what he signed off with the on the last email.

"I’m glad to have had this chat with you too. I’m so busy these months that I’m barely home but thankfully had 2 days straight to get a lot of things done that I’d put off for a long time.

Best,

Woz"

MySpace.com offers up advertising for the little guy

Archived in the category: Domain News

The most popular social network site on the net with over 122 million registered members is offering up advertising. The CPC is about $0.25 which will get you 100 visitors for $25. These ads could produce pretty well as MySpace is offering you some options.

MySpace MyAds allows you to target your ads to users based on gender, age and geography. When you target your ads to geographic locations, you can choose from one of the following options:

  • National US - Your ads will appear to MySpace users who specify on their MySpace profile that they reside within the United States.
  • Regional - Your ads will only appear to users who specify on their MySpace profile that they are located in the regional areas you select.
  • City/State - Your ads will only appear to users who specify on their MySpace profiles that they are located in the specific cities or states your choose.
  • Zip code - Your ads will only appear to customers who specify on their MySpace profiles that they are located in the zip codes you choose.

The ads can be either 300×250 or leader boards at 728×90 and you can check this out at http://advertising.myspace.com . The login is different then if you have a MySpace account but I wanted to point this out as many small and new businesses use MySpace and a lot of them need domain names.
